I bought guns at first just to enjoy training and being better equipped to handle firearms. However, the more I read about school and religious establishment shootings, the more I felt applying for a CCW was important. Most, if not everyone else, at my church don't carry. I have been concerned about a mass murder event happening for some time. All of that led me to apply and keep up my training. I live in California so I wasn't optimistic. When I did the training, I almost backed out because of the enormous responsibilities and possible consequences of having to use a firearm. After receiving my CCW, I have trained regularly and when my instructor mentioned having insurance, he recommended USCCA. I researched them, weighed the cost against the risk and have had a membership for a handful of years. I haven't been disappointed by their thorough coverage of carrying, although I will admit to not having taken advantage of all of their services. It's the peace of mind that they offer that attracts me the most and keeps me with them.
