More Than 325,000 Responsibly Armed Americans Trust USCCA:
I joined USCCA because I realize that more and more we will, possibly, need our gun to protect ourselves and/or our family. Should this need arise, I will certainly do what is necessary to save us… I don’t want to stand alone to defend my actions after this happens. I know how the law is slanted toward the aggressor and not the victim. USCCA is exactly the one to stand with me. I know that they will fill in all the gaps for me. I can’t see losing all that I have worked for just for defending myself and family against those that would do us harm. Joining USCCA is the single best thing that I have ever done.

You hear stories all the time: law-abiding gun owners labeled as vigilantes … the criminals are sweet and innocent of course. The harsh reality is that if you own a firearm, you need to know your rights and understand exactly what happens after the smoke clears. As a proud member of the USCCA, I have peace of mind knowing that if I ever have to use my weapon to save the life of my loved one, they will be in my corner.

I — like MOST, if not ALL in the USCCA — believe it’s not so much of a right to join such an organization as USCCA, but a responsibility. I look at having my CCW and association with USCCA much like I do with voting; [it’s] another one of our rights. But for ME at least, it’s more a fundamental responsibility as an American to do so. Knowing that someone is looking out for me and my family in the event of me having to discharge my weapon is exactly what law abiding citizens need in this world of liberal prosecutors. Thanks Tim and USCCA Family!

A few months ago I was at the local playground with my fiancé and our 2-year-old son. While we were walking to our car to leave, a young kid walked up to a group of kids playing basketball right behind us and pulled out a gun to rob them for their cell phones. Without skipping a beat one of the kids being robbed tried to grab the gun from the thief. When that happened, the thief just started shooting in all directions, not caring who he shot. Once I realized what was happening, I knocked my fiancé and son on the ground and jumped on top of them trying to keep them safe. Thank God this idiot missed every shot. From that second, I refused to ever feel that helpless ever again. I applied for my license to carry firearms and signed up for the USCCA.

I must say my original “Why” was wanting to learn ways of concealing my weapon when I’m walking around running errands or just enjoying a day with the family. After reading my first issue of Concealed Carry Magazine, I’ve learned that you guys are about a whole LOT more than just properly concealing a weapon. I have learned a whole lot more about the laws and the dos and don’ts of carrying concealed. I am 52 years old, and if there is one thing I do know, it’s that I don’t know everything. USCCA has taught me new techniques to carry, train and be safe with my CCW. You guys have taught me things I don’t think I would have learned anywhere else, and for that I am immensely grateful.

I joined USCCA because I believe that the organization is uniquely positioned and provides responsibly armed citizens the encouragement, information and training that we need. I do not believe there is another organization that offers as much for so little. I am a Platinum member, which means that I pay around $1.00 per day for all of the resources that USCCA has to offer. I love the magazines and the Self-Defense SHIELD. I hope and pray I never have to use my weapon to stop a threat but if I do, I know that the Self-Defense SHIELD is going to help me in a big way. The way I look at it, if you are a responsibly armed citizen you cannot afford not to join.

I have been in law enforcement for 31 years and have held the Office of Sheriff for the past 11 years. I am also an Idaho POST Certified Firearms Instructor and have been an instructor for the past 24 years. As Sheriff, I sign off on all the concealed weapons license permits in my county. I am a member of many organizations but expressly the USCCA because it gives me additional insight into the issues of concealed weapon ownership and carry. In spite of my experience, there is always something new to learn.

As a United States Marine, weapons have always been a priority. As I am no longer on active duty, I was seeking a place where I could continue to learn and hone my skills. The USCCA was where I found my home. Great training and support. The Self-Defense SHIELD program is worth the price of membership alone. I pray that I never have to use it, but it’s good to know that the USCCA has my back.
