My Biography
Though I've been a gun geek for most of my life it was the military (Army) that gave me the opportunity to distinguish myself as an expert marksman.
I spent several years with the State Department in Diplomatic Security which had me qualifying and carrying handguns all around the DMV metro area. It was only after I received my first Virginia Concealed Carry permit, however, did I finally feel the "weight of responsibility" with firearms. Up until then, it was either "recreation" or "work." Being responsible for the personal protection of my family was something I hadn't experienced in all those years prior.
I've been carrying in Virginia for over 15 years. In all that time I've seen good and bad instructors. But, even more, distressful was the number of folks I knew (and cared about) carrying concealed or buying their first firearm with nearly zero understanding or competency with the basics.
I've contracted with law enforcement trainers, VA department of justice trainers, and military vets. There was so much inconsistency with what was being taught I decided to step up and take on the mantle of helping others succeed with firearms. If you don't know me, I don't do anything in life "small." I'm proud of the work Iron Sights is doing. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.
