Bruce Illum

Bruce Illum is a Master Educator with over 35 years experience. He has been a firearms instructor for over 20 years. His credentials include a Masters of Science Degree in Chemistry Teaching from the University of Utah. Bachelor’s Degree from Weber State in Physical Science and Mathematics. His firearms instructor credentials include -Utah Hunter Education -Utah Concealed Firearm Permit Instructor. -USCCA Training Counselor and Instructor for Concealed Carry and Home Defense, endorsements for Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense. Countering the Mass Shooter. -NRA Training Counselor and certified instructor in Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Muzzle Loading Firearms, NRA CCW, NRA Personal Protection Inside and Outside the Home, Home Firearm Safety and Chief Range Safety Officer. He is also currently the NRA State Training Counselor Liaison for Utah. Bruce was selected as the Utah Hunter Education Instructor of the Year in 2017. He continues to teach Utah Hunter Education courses as a volunteer several times a year.

Bruce is also a Scouting America National Camp School Range and Target Activities Director. He has worked at several summer camps in California, Utah and Wyoming. He has been a Range and Target Activities Section director at the Scouting America National Camping School and has served on staff at several National Camp School courses. He currently is also the Range and Target Activities Chair for the Crossroads of the West Council for Scouting America and coordinates Training and Activities for adult volunteers and the youth in the council.

He enjoys helping and mentoring others to enjoy the shooting sports in a safe and family friendly environment. From hunting, target shooting, self-defense or just improving your marksmanship and/or gun handling skills, Bruce is highly spoken of among his peers and is an instructor that is highly sought after in the community.
