My Biography
Rob is a VA Air National Guard veteran with 35+ years building U.S . Navy aircraft carriers and submarinens. Rob's firearms journey started during the 2020 ammunition shortage which identified gaps in his home protection plan. As an instructor, Rob's focus is on basic handgun safety, concealed carry, women's handgun/self-defense, and church security.

Instructing new students, the Universal Safety Rules, Nomenclature, understanding a Gun's Actions, Assembly and disassembly, clearing Semi-Automatics including malfunctions. Understanding Magazines and Defensive Shooting Fundamentals utilizing Snap Caps.
This mini-class is designed for clergy, ministry leaders, safety teams, volunteers, and congregants. This program focuses on developing safer places of worship through situational awareness, threat recognition, emergency planning, communication, and coordinated response strategies.
The lesson covers specific considerations related to evaluating the current level of security and offers practical exercises which can be done to practice the lessons being taught.
Topics Covered:
-Learn how to identify a person who may be planning a mass shooting -Determine the steps to create an emergency operations plan -Special safety and knowledge considerations for Houses of Worship -Better evaluate the current House of Worship security, determine safe rooms and improvised weapons, and how to treat the wounded after the attack

The Holster Drawing for Beginners course is designed for responsible firearm owners who are ready to safely transition from static range shooting to controlled, defensive-context holster presentation.
This course emphasizes safety, legality, efficiency, and accountability — not speed for speed’s sake and not tactical training. Students will learn how to safely draw from a holster, manage concealment garments, reholster with discipline, and apply sound fundamentals under realistic, controlled conditions.
This class is ideal for: • Concealed carry permit holders • First-time holster users • Students transitioning from classroom-only training • Individuals seeking safer, more confident firearm handling
COURSE OBJECTIVES
Students will learn and practice:
• Legal considerations for carrying and drawing a holstered firearm • Safe holster selection and placement (IWB / OWB) • Establishing a safe, consistent draw stroke • Clearing concealment garments efficiently • Trigger discipline and muzzle awareness during the draw • Controlled reholstering procedures • Defensive accuracy fundamentals from the draw • Dry-fire holster presentation drills • Live-fire holster draw drills under direct instructor supervision
WHAT WE’LL TEACH
Defensive Pistol Fundamentals (Non-Tactical)
This course reinforces the foundational differences between traditional range marksmanship and real-world defensive firearm handling. Students will gain a practical understanding of:
• Defensive accuracy vs. target shooting • Body mechanics that support safe presentation • Grip, stance, sight alignment, and trigger control • Why safety and consistency matter more than speed
Instruction is paced, methodical, and student-centered.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
• Handgun in safe working condition • Quality belt-mounted holster (IWB or OWB only) • Sturdy belt designed to support a holster • Eye and ear protection • Minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition • Cover garment (if carrying from concealment)
RESTRICTED HOLSTER TYPES
The following holsters are NOT permitted:
• SERPA-style holsters (trigger-finger release) • Nylon or Cordura holsters • Shoulder holsters • Cross-draw holsters • Small-of-the-back holsters • Pocket holsters • Sticky or magnetic holsters • “Bang Bra” or similar devices • Inner-thigh holsters • Any holster deemed unsafe by the instructor or RSO
RANGE SESSION NOTICE
The live-fire portion of this course will be conducted at Freedom Outdoors on a separate date. Students will be contacted to schedule the range session once classroom instruction is completed.
