My Biography

David has a wide and varied history in public service. Starting out in Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) in 1992 as a cadet volunteer and David rose through the ranks to Major while fulfilling multiple leadership roles through 20+ volunteer years.

At the age of 18, David expanded his volunteer service by becoming a volunteer fire fighter for a department in the suburbs of New Orleans.

David moved to the Denver area in 2000 and enlisted in the Colorado Air National Guard as part of the Security Forces (military police). While David was in basic training the tragic events of 9/11 happened. The following eight years were spent on active duty including two deployments to the Middle East, one to Central American, and a final one to the US/Mexico border. David obtained the rank of Technical Sergeant (E6) and was a Fire Team Leader and certified Flight Sergeant. Shortly after returning from his second deployment to the Middle East, David was selected to become a Flight Training NCO. The role of the Flight Training NCO was to develop and conduct training for flight member on duty. This ranged from classes on security to UCMJ (Uniform Code of Military Justice) to conducting military exercises. Part of those exercises included training flight member in the use of force as a F.A.T.S. (FireArms Training Simulator) instructor. Part of David's duties were to assist the base populace on their shooting skills and range qualifications.

In 2009, David was released from active duty to return to a traditional guardsman status. This allowed him to pursue a career in civilian law enforcement and was hired by a local law enforcement organization. David continues serving the public today in this role and obtained a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Administration . David has received several honors and accolades through out his time in the military and law enforcement:

      • Gun Safety
      • Gun Storage
      • Types of Firearms and Their Parts

(This class does not qualify for a concealed carry permits!)

The course will also provide a detailed review of the USCCA's Colorado supplement.

Would you know what to do if you were deep in the wilderness, and a hunting companion sustained a penetrating chest wound from an errant round?

Could you prolong the life of a loved one long enough for the ambulance to arrive, if he or she had sustained a lacerated artery from a violent attacker armed with a knife?

While most Americans are comfortable dealing with the cuts and scrapes of everyday life, and tens of thousands have learned the Heimlich maneuver and CPR, most individuals would be a bit less comfortable dealing with severe, life threatening injuries or illnesses when seconds count, and EMS personnel and the emergency room are minutes (or longer) away. In the training course, Emergency First Aid Fundamentals, you’ll learn to not only understand the proper way to assess a patient, you’ll also learn in great detail the proper way to deal with significant issues such as serious bleeding, chest injuries, a compromised airway, spinal injuries, broken bones, and more. While it might seem unrealistic to translate what professional EMTs and paramedics are able to do in an emergency versus the things that nonprofessionals would be capable of, but in life threatening medical and traumatic emergencies, it all boils down to the same thing — sustaining the life of the patient until he or she can be delivered to the emergency room.

If you’re ready to become your family’s first responder in all emergency situations, this training cannot be missed. During this training, you’ll do more than simply sit in a classroom learning about these topics, your USCCA instructor will work you through a dozen real world scenarios using simulated patients and the actual products (or field expedients) that you’ll need to understand if you hope to save a life.

This is a comprehensive class for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. The course is a guide to understanding conflict avoidance and situational awareness; shooting fundamentals; the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a guide on gear, gadgets, and ongoing training.

SIRT Trained is not intended to replace any live-fire courses, only to complement the training you have already received.

Finding a range that allows you to practice certain shospecifickills, such as compromised shooting positions, high-angle shooting, or even drawing from a concealed holster, is hard.

Training with SIRT pistols is designed to provide similar and practical training for skills that might otherwise be difficult to practice at an indoor range. It also allows for a high volume of training while using minimal resources.

In SIRT Trained, the 4 Universal Safety Rules will be reviewed and reinforced in a safe environment through practicing fundamentals and drills during the course.

In only a few short hours, you will have fun learning these hands-on fundamentals: • Trigger Control • Grip • Natural Point of Aim • Shooting Platform • Drawing from the holster

We will also practice emergency reloading and dry fire drills using SIRT Pistols.

Upon successfully completing this course, you will become a USCCA Certified Instructor uniquely authorized to teach the USCCA course, Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals.

This course has become the nation’s leading curriculum for law-abiding Americans seeking to obtain their concealed carry permit. When it comes to firearms fundamentals and concealed carry and home defense concepts, you will provide your students with high-quality material and help them understand the ‘why’ behind training concepts.

Class Preparation: You must complete the corresponding online learning course. (Automatically sent to you upon registering for the class.)

Day 1: you’ll be taught by a USCCA Training Counselor on several valuable topics, including:

      • Top ten instructor mistakes and how to avoid them
      • Teaching best practices
      • Colorado Required Training & Affirmative Defenses
      • Running a safe live fire range
      • Run a live fire range, guiding your peers through the safe completion of the USCCA course of fire

      Day 2: You’ll have a chance to:

      • Demonstrate your knowledge of the USCCA training material through seven short presentations to a group of your peers. You will be teaching on the knowledge you gained from the eLearning Course.
      • Complete a written exam

By combining the knowledge of the USCCA and your passion for training more responsibly armed Americans, you can be assured that you’ve found the instructor certification for you.

I thought for sure that gun training from 8 AM to 5 PM would quickly grow tedious but David made every minute of it worthwhile and informative. I plan to get a crew together for advanced training with him so what greater endorsement is there??"
