As a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor (QHI) and given the Maryland COVID restrictions, I elect to participate in a virtual handgun permit training course via Zoom. This will, however, require a real-time, bi-directional audio/visual connection between me, the QHI, and the student(s). Once the student(s) has/have registered for the Maryland HQL course, a link for the virtual class will be sent to the students' email. Range dates and times will be determined and given in the class. On the first day of class, the Virtual Classroom occurs. On the second day, the Live Fire range is conducted. Due to state COVID restrictions; a mask is required for all in-person training.
After October 1, 2013, all Wear and Carry Permit applicants are required to complete a course before a permit will be issued or renewed. We offer the new applicant a 16-hour (2-day class) for those who are applying, and an eight (8) hour renewal course is available for current Wear and Carry Permit card holders.
Course matter will cover MD, AZ and FL states' gun laws. This gives a broad range of reciprocity to conceal carry in 36 states.
Merely having a firearm is not enough.
At its most basic level, a personal and home-protection plan is designed to help keep you physically, legally, financially and morally safe. Your ultimate goal should be to avoid violent encounters in the first place by developing an acute awareness of your surroundings and by making intelligent decisions about your actions, behaviors and precautions.
After October 1, 2013, all Wear and Carry Permit applicants are required to complete a course before a permit will be issued or renewed. We offer the new applicant a 5-hour for those who are applying.
Course matter will cover VA state's gun laws.
Arizona is a shall-issue, constitutional carry state. As long as the applicant passes the basic requirements set out by Arizona state law, the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZ DPS) is compelled to issue a permit.
Open carry is also legal in Arizona for any person who is at least 18 years old and who can legally possess a firearm. A permit is not required.
Why get a Concealed Carry Weapons Permit?
If Arizona is a constitutional carry state, and I can carry a concealed weapon without a permit, why should I get one?
Reciprocity — Without the permit, you cannot carry in any of the 30 states that have reciprocity with the Arizona concealed carry weapons permit.
NOTE: Even with this reciprocity, holders of the AZ license must learn and follow the gun laws of the states in which one plans to conceal carry.

Florida is a shall-issue state with concealed weapons licenses issued at the state level by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS).
There is no license, background check or firearms registration required when buying a handgun from a private individual. Buyers must be at least 21 years old to purchase any firearm and although several counties have enacted ordinances establishing waiting periods for some purchases from non-licensed sellers (often at gun shows), Florida Concealed Weapons License (CWL) holders are exempt.
Open carry is not legal in Florida, except for a few limited exceptions such as when engaged in fishing, camping, lawful hunting or target practice at an indoor range.
Concealed carry is legal for residents with a Florida CWL and for non-residents with a CCW permit from a state that Florida honors. The Florida CWL allows holders of the license to carry not only a handgun but also other weapons such as electronic weapons, tear gas guns, billie clubs and knives. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have completed a firearms training course, or be a current member of the military or an honorably discharged veteran. CWLs are issued to residents and non-residents. In terms of reciprocity, Florida will only honor resident CCW licenses from states with which Florida has a reciprocity agreement.
NOTE: Even with this reciprocity, holders of the FL license must learn and follow the gun laws of the states in which one plans to conceal carry.
