My Biography
Alecia “Lisa” Roberson (uh-LEE-shuh) Founder & Personal Protection Educator, Empowered Personal Protection LLC
Alecia “Lisa” Roberson is a USCCA Certified Firearms Instructor and Official USCCA Partner, NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, USCCA Certified Range Safety Officer, and Stop the Bleed® Instructor and Licensee. Her credentials go beyond technical instruction to include Trauma-Informed Somatic Coaching, Empowerment Self-Defense Instructor Training, Human Rights Consultation through USIDHR, and Anti-Human Trafficking Education. Empowered Personal Protection is a CAGE-registered business entity, verified through the U.S. System for Award Management.
Her teaching is informed by how people actually learn and perform under stress. That shapes everything she offers, from concealed carry classes to her proprietary programs:
The Space Between™ is a decision-making and personal protection class built for the moment most people actually face: when something feels off and you have to choose what to do. The Assertive Edge™ is a six-session coaching program that develops presence, voice, awareness, and tool integration for people building confidence that holds under pressure.
Lisa works with students of all backgrounds at beginner to intermediate levels: brand-new shooters, those preparing for their Ohio CCW, survivors building safety skills on their own terms, professionals navigating high-stress environments, and shooters refining their craft. Her classes hold the highest standards of safety, respect, and accountability while meeting students exactly where they are.
A mother of three and grandmother of six, Lisa began her path in 2019 while living in Arizona, when she and her youngest daughter experienced a situation that showed how quickly a normal day can change. It deepened her commitment to training, responsibility, and readiness. She had excellent instructors, but she also noticed gaps: too few women in the room, and too little learner-centered, trauma-aware instruction for people who were nervous, hesitant, or carrying difficult histories. She chose to become the instructor she once needed.
Empowered Personal Protection was founded on family preservation, responsibility, and education. Her mission is to help individuals build a proactive defensive mindset, develop competence under pressure, and become capable, informed first responders for themselves and their loved ones.
Lisa has been featured four times on WDTN Channel 2, Dayton’s NBC affiliate, for her expertise in firearms safety, women’s training, home protection, and community safety education. She also facilitates the Dayton, Ohio Chapter of A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, a women-only organization dedicated to safety, skill development, and community for beginner and intermediate pistol shooters.
If you’re looking for professional, safety-focused instruction grounded in responsibility, not fear, she would be honored to support your journey.

Concealed Carry: Responsibility, Readiness, and the Right Mindset
A firearm doesn't make you prepared. Training does.
Carrying a concealed firearm is more than the lawful act of carrying a weapon. It is a commitment to awareness, discipline, sound judgment, and personal responsibility.
A firearm is a tool.
Preparedness is knowing how to recognize a problem, understand your options, make sound decisions, and respond appropriately when circumstances demand it.
This course is designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to approach concealed carry with competence, confidence, wisdom, and respect for life.
Because confidence shouldn't come from simply owning a firearm.
It should come from knowing what you're doing.
And competence isn't something you have to pretend to have.
You build it.
You learn. You practice. You make adjustments. You gain experience. You build evidence for yourself that you can do this.
What You'll Learn
This course goes beyond firearm mechanics. We look at the whole person—mind, body, awareness, decision-making, and judgment because responsible concealed carry requires more than knowing how to shoot.
Awareness, Avoidance & De-escalation
Learn strategies for recognizing potential problems, avoiding unnecessary conflict, creating distance, and disengaging from situations whenever possible.
Personal & Home Defense Planning
Develop a practical personal and home defense plan that considers your lifestyle, environment, responsibilities, and the people who depend on you.
Firearms Fundamentals
Build a strong foundation in safe firearm handling, responsible gun ownership, mindset, and accountability.
Shooting Fundamentals
Develop the fundamentals necessary for safe, consistent, and accurate shooting while learning to manage yourself and your equipment.
Legal Use of Force
Understand the serious legal and ethical responsibilities associated with defensive force, including the circumstances in which force may or may not be legally justified.
Decision-Making & Personal Responsibility
Explore the decisions that happen before, during, and after a critical incident—and why sound judgment matters just as much as technical skill.
And more, because responsible concealed carry isn't one skill. It's a collection of knowledge, decisions, behaviors, and practiced abilities.
What This Training Gives You
Choosing to carry a firearm is a deeply personal decision. If you make that choice, responsible training helps you develop the ability to carry with greater awareness, competence, and purpose.
Preparedness
Develop practical skills and a personal protection plan rather than relying on assumptions about what you might do in an emergency.
Self-Reliance
Take an active role in your personal safety while understanding the responsibility that comes with carrying a firearm.
Capability
Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly use the tools available to you when appropriate.
Confidence Through Competence
Real confidence isn't something someone can hand you.
It is built through knowledge, practice, experience, and evidence.
When you repeatedly experience yourself learning, adapting, and succeeding, you begin to trust your own ability.
Awareness & Decision-Making
Strengthen your ability to recognize problems, evaluate your options, and make thoughtful decisions before a situation becomes a crisis.
Respect for Life
Responsible concealed carry isn't about looking for confrontation or proving something.
It is about understanding the seriousness of possessing a lethal tool and developing the maturity to prioritize avoidance, de-escalation, restraint, and preservation of life whenever possible.
This Course Is About More Than Carrying
It's not about fear. It's about preparation.
Not about power. About responsibility.
Not about reaction. About awareness and decision-making.
Not about pretending to be confident. About becoming competent enough to trust yourself.
Because the goal isn't simply to leave class knowing more about firearms.
The goal is to leave more capable than when you arrived.
And when competence grows, something powerful happens:
You begin to have evidence that you can.
That's the kind of confidence worth carrying.
Learn first. Practice first. Build evidence first.
At Empowered Personal Protection, we believe competence comes before confidence. This 3-hour introductory class uses professional SIRT® (Shot Indicating Reset Trigger) laser technology to help you learn and practice foundational handgun skills in a controlled, supportive setting. It’s quiet, calm, and paced so you can focus on one skill at a time.
Live-fire training introduces many variables at once: noise, recoil, range commands, and distractions. Simulator training slows everything down, so you can focus on grip, sight alignment, and trigger press first. The goal isn’t to replace live-fire training. It’s to build a stronger foundation before you add that complexity.
What You’ll Build
Grip & Control: proper hand placement and the habits behind consistent shooting Trigger Control: a smooth, deliberate press, with laser feedback showing where it’s inconsistent Sight Alignment & Visual Processing: bringing your sights into alignment and keeping your focus Target Acquisition & Reaction: visual processing and controlled movement at your own pace Muzzle Awareness & Safe Handling: moving safety from something you remember to something you practice
Building Evidence You don’t have to walk in believing you’re “a gun person.” You just have to be willing to learn. Every repetition gives you evidence: I learned it. I practiced it. I can do it. That’s how confidence begins to grow.
Who This Is For First-time and newer handgun owners, anyone who feels nervous around firearms, students preparing for their first live-fire experience, and former shooters revisiting the fundamentals. No experience needed.
How the Class Works Students work in pairs and rotate through the simulator pistols, so you’ll practice and also learn by watching and giving feedback. Everything is provided. Seats are limited to 8.
You’ll leave with: a practiced foundation and a clear idea of what to work on next.
A Different Starting Point You don’t need to prove you’re confident. You need the opportunity to become competent. Competence creates evidence, and evidence builds confidence.
Learn. Practice. Build the evidence. Then take that foundation with you to the range.
Arrive as you are. This class gives you a place to learn, practice, and experience yourself becoming capable.
If you’re new to handguns, returning after time away, or ready to rebuild your foundation, this class was designed for you. Women only, small group, and paced so every question is welcome.
At Empowered Personal Protection, we believe competence comes before confidence. Learn. Practice. Adjust. Build the evidence.

You'll apply the fundamentals through structured, instructor-led exercises designed to develop:
Safe firearm handling Consistency Accuracy Grip and firearm control Sight management Trigger control Firearm familiarity Confidence through purposeful practice
Your instructor will provide guidance and individualized feedback throughout the session.
We aren't racing through ammunition.
We're building quality repetitions.
Because the goal isn't simply to shoot more.
The goal is to understand more, practice better, and develop skills you can continue building.
WHY THIS APPROACH?
There is a difference between owning a firearm and being prepared to use one responsibly.
There is also a difference between shooting a firearm and understanding the fundamentals that contribute to safe, consistent performance.
We focus on both.
You will have the opportunity to learn not only what to do, but to understand why it matters.
Then you'll practice it.
You'll receive feedback.
You'll make adjustments.
And you'll try again.
Every successful repetition becomes evidence:
I learned it.
I practiced it.
I can do it.
That's how competence develops.
And competence gives confidence somewhere solid to stand.
