No matter what type of gun or what kind of shooting activity is involved, it is imperative that participants follow the universal firearms safety rules. This lesson covers those basics in a fun, easy-to-remember fashion so kids will be able to learn, remember and apply the rules.

This children-focused lesson covers the important aspects of being cautious and safe in any environment, whether firearms are present or not. Participants will also learn the four rules to be safe around guns.

While there are a number of diagnostic tools, medications, and devices that EMS providers have access to that are simply not available to non-professionals, the vast majority of the items that you’d find in the back of a typical ambulance or medic bag are things that nonprofessionals can find online with just a few click, or, even purchase at your local drugstore. To help you to prioritize your own purchases, I’m going to suggest what type of gear might be included in emergency first aid kits of three different sizes to fit three different needs, or, three different “missions.” I’ll wrap up this chapter with a few suggestions on where you can go from here.
