|Taught by"For those considering pepper spray as an alternate source of protection, this is an excellent class to start with. There are many options of pepper spray available and the need to learn about the potential consequences of using them. While using pepper spray training canisters, we reviewed where women typically carry their spray, then practiced removing it, noting how long it takes to access it. From there, we went over the need to be prepared before a potential threat escalates. Knowing how to slide the safety clip to the side, properly hold the canister, and shout "Voice Commands" at the perpetrator. All while being aware of our aim and environment before ever deploying the spray. This indeed takes practice! It was also an opportunity to discover - Most people are not as quick or accurate as they thought they would be. And recognizing there's a chance you may freeze or possibly experience a hindering emotional response when someone is aggressively coming towards you. Our instructors, Crystal Duke, Carleta Watts & Susan Corbett were knowledgeable, well trained in the use of pepper spray and patient during our deployment training. Go for it!"
