Ledbetter II is a highly respected security expert, elite martial artist, and veteran law enforcement officer with over 25 years of distinguished service. Renowned for his calm under pressure, strategic mindset, and passion for protecting others, Joe has dedicated his life to equipping individuals and communities with the tools to stay safe, confident, and prepared in an unpredictable world. A retired Explosive Detection Canine Handler from the DART Police Department, Joe safeguarded the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with precision and integrity. In his specialized role, he conducted high-stakes threat assessments, led interagency security coordination, and deployed canine units as both proactive and reactive measures against potential threats. His expertise in public safety and visible leadership helped shape the region’s transit security protocols and community response plans. Joe’s journey into the world of protection began in his hometown of Gary, Indiana, a city that shaped his resilience and discipline. At just eight years old, he began training in Shari Goju Kempo under Sensei William Booth, progressing through the ranks of Shorin-Ryu under Grand Master Alex Dunlap Jr., and ultimately mastering Niku Bushi Ryu Kempo under Grand Master Don Lefields during his time at Grambling State University. Today, Joe holds the prestigious rank of 8th Degree Black Belt, a testament to over four decades of rigorous study, competition, and instruction in martial arts. He continues to actively compete, teach, and guide students across the country. As the founder of Stay Ready Strategic Defense, Joe empowers churches, civic groups, and private individuals with hands-on training in firearms safety, personal defense, active threat response, and situational awareness. His mission: to cultivate confidence, vigilance, and resilience in every individual he trains. Joe is also a certified Firearms and Weapons Instructor and holds a Master Peace Officer License. He completed advanced tactical and explosives training through the TSA’s Explosives Detection Canine Handler School at Lackland Air Force Base. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous law enforcement certifications and continues to stay on the leading edge of security strategies and public safety practices.
