Based in El Paso, Texas, Deshawn is a firearms instructor committed to elevating the knowledge and proficiency of firearms owners throughout his community. His passion for responsible gun ownership and safety is rooted in over two decades of dedicated service to our nation.

This is the full course needed to earn your License to Carry in the state of Texas. The first 4 hours of this course will be classroom instruction. Upon completion of the classroom portion you will take a written exam. Below are the subjects covered in the classroom instruction: -Laws that relate to weapons / use of force -Safe storage -Non-Violent dispute resolution --Handgun use and safety (including use of restraint holsters) The second portion of the course will be 2 hours of range instruction where you will take a handgun proficiency exam. You must pass the in-class written exam with 70% and your handgun proficiency exam (shooting qualification) with 70%. Please bring your firearm (if you own one) and the appropriate ammunition for that firearm (at least 50 rounds). If you do not own a firearm, you may rent one from me. Ear protection may be provided. Eye protection must be brought with you. At the end, you will receive your LTC-104 form certifying your completion of the course.
This course is designed for individuals with little to no prior firearm experience, as well as those who wish to learn more about the firearm they currently carry. Learn the basics of how to properly hold a handgun, universal safety rules, and the function of an action on a handgun. In this class, you will also learn the legal use of force and gain a better understanding of what handgun may be right for you.
Being aware of your surroundings is important during everyday life. This course will give you the basic skills needed to identify any public threats you may encounter. Whether pumping gas, getting groceries or watching TV at home, you should always be prepared for any possible encounter.
