My Biography
I am an ardent supporter of the 2nd Amendment rights of every U.S. citizen with an emphasized belief in the societal impact and balance achieved when everyday Americans embrace the rights that belong to them under the 2nd amendment in addition to the right of every citizen to defend themselves, their property, and their families.
My previous 25 plus years in the United States Army have provided me with unique opportunities and experiences with various levels of firearms maintenance, operation, range safety officer certification, and instructor requirements. Experience has also provided me with unique situations that required the use of deadly force. This has translated to an instructional methodology that provides insight into the physical and mental reactions that occur as a result before, during, and after having to use deadly force in self-defense.

This course, as set forth by the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act, fulfills the requirements of training in order for one to apply for an Oklahoma concealed carry permit. This course consist of a classroom portion a break for lunch and then verification fire at an outdoor range. This course also discusses individual and family home defense plans, what to consider when using deadly force, and the aftermath of the use of deadly force.
Taught by an experienced team of female and male instructors this class begins with a review of the universal safety rules, basic handgun principles, shooting fundamentals, firing actions of the handgun, and loading and clearing of firearms. We then introduce the student to defensive shooting vs. marksmanship, situational awareness mindset, reloading, and the legal use of force.
A combination of Electronic Module Learning led by Michael Martin, author of Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals, and the lead USCCA Training Counselor will review materials provided in the Instructor Toolkit, identify important elements within the USCCA curriculum and present tips to maximize the use of multimedia materials. Students will learn common instructor mistakes and how to avoid them, and how to use PowerPoint to integrate the USCCA curriculum into their lessons. The course will also touch upon proper business and financial management.
Students will be graded on their ability to present course materials, a written test, and a live fire qualification (8 inch circular target)

In this introductory course the student will learn the difference between precision shooting and defensive shooting (intuitive shooting) and the fundamental differences that come with engaging a threat with the 3 to 5 process (3 to 5 seconds, at 3 to 5 yards, with 3 to 5 well placed rounds). You will learn to trust your abilities to stop the threat without utilizing the perfect sight alignment and sight picture. You will learn how the body's natural reactions to a dangerous threat can be used to quickly move and shoot to neutralize a deadly threat. Instruction also includes the reinforcement of basic fundamentals such as grip, stance, natural alignment and trigger fundamentals. The class starts with a discussion of each individuals comfort level, buying into a shift in thinking, determining competency, and training to the next level. We then move into defensive shooting core drills including: Extend – Touch – Press Up Drill and Up Multiple Emergency Reload Balance of Speed & Precision Presentation from the Holster Additional Drills will be based on the class pace and include: Lateral Movement Facing Movement Tactical Stroll Dynamic Deviation Push Your Limits Home Defense Simulation (based on range rules and time)
