Jon Plyler

Jon Plyler, owner & head instructor of Acumen Tactical, is a military veteran and former full time law enforcement officer & trainer. Jon spent 15 years with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, before leaving to start his own business. He served as an adjunct instructor for most of his time with the department, and spent his last 5 years with the department as a full-time instructor at their Police Training Academy, specializing in Defensive Tactics & Firearms instruction, for both new recruits as well as in-service officers. Jon currently works full time as the owner & head instructor of Royce Gracie Academy of Lake Norman, teaching Gracie Jiu-jitsu to kids & adults of all ages. Jon is a certified firearms instructor for both the USCCA and NRA, and has many years of teaching experience in firearms training, use of force, and defensive tactics. The mission of his company, Acumen Tactical, is to provide the highest quality training, consistent with the latest industry standards in use of force, firearms training, and ALL aspects of self defense; to equip responsibly and legally armed citizens with the skills & tactics to effectively defend themselves, their families, and communities, against threats & acts of violence and to empower them to act as their own first responders, with the ultimate goal of protecting innocent humans lives.
