This is a basic class that will help you get comfortable and familiar with your firearm and how it functions. This class is the 1st in a serries of three class.

In this class we will be going over the Second module of the book. We will be looking at the following

With three distinct modules, this course is designed for those who are brand new to firearms and those who are ready to learn more about defensive shooting.

This is a high-level overview of everything you need to know to about defensive shooting.

This 2-hour class is broken down into a 1-hour in-classroom safety and instruction and a 1-hour “on-the-range” drills and skill builder to practice and reinforce the material from the classroom portion.

Required Gear: Pistol or Revolver, 100 rounds of ammunition.

Required Shooting Skills: Known skills from the Intro to Pistol class.

AR-15 Fundamentals

This curriculum focuses on developing the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to handle defensive shooting situations with the AR platform safely and effectively. While specific details may vary depending on the instructor and course level.

1. Introduction to the AR-15:

   • Overview of the AR-15 platform and its components.

2. Safety and Handling:

   • Basic firearm safety rules and range etiquette.
   • Safe handling and proper storage of the AR-15.

3. Nomenclature and Functionality:

   • Identification of major parts and their functions.
   • Field-stripping and cleaning procedures.
   • Basic maintenance and lubrication.

4. Shooting Fundamentals:

   • Proper stance, grip, and body position.
   • Sight alignment and sight picture.
   • Trigger control and follow-through.
   • Breath control and natural point of aim.

5. Shooting Drills and Practical Application:

   • Engaging multiple targets.
   • Rapid target acquisition and engagement.
   • Balance of speed and precision.

6. Reloading and Manipulation:

   • Magazine changes and tactical reloading.
   • Shooting on the move and transitioning between targets.

7. Shooting Range Exercises:

   • Live-fire exercises to reinforce the learned skills.
   • Controlled shooting drills to improve accuracy and speed.

Rifle/Carbine (NOTE: This class is specific to the AR15 platform. AK’s, bullpups, and other platforms are not accepted)

Slings are required. 2-point slings are preferred

AR’s must have an optic or iron sights.

150 rounds of ammunition; more is recommended if possible.

In this Self-Defense Firearms Basics course, students will be exposed to the principles of firearm use for self-defense. This training has been proven to build confidence and proficiency in the use of a Firearm for Self-Defense.

Who wants to build their own AR-15 or AR-10? At Big Mike's Guns and Ammo, we've built hundreds of AR rifles and often find ourselves repairing others' DIY builds. While building an AR is doable, it’s not always plug-and-play. Throwing parts together without tuning can lead to reliability issues, and that’s where we come in. We offer our customers the chance to build their rifles the right way. We have basic rifle build kits in stock, along with custom parts to make the rifle uniquely yours. From painting, laser work, custom art, to adding your name or military unit, we offer nearly limitless customization options. Note, you need to arrange all the parts before the class. We sell kits and all the parts needed to build a rifle. but you need to pass the background no later than the day before the class or have a CCW.

This class will fulfill your Nevada State requirements to renew your CCW. You will learn the laws and regulations as well as complete the shooting requirements.

$80- First Responders

This class will fulfill your Nevada State requirements to renew your CCW. You will learn the laws and regulations as well as complete the shooting requirements.

This will be one hour of 1-1 time to work on whatever skills or techniques you need to work on. We will go over drills and help you feel safer or become more confident with your firearm.

Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded. For AR-15 classes if you do not pay in full the spot will not be reserved. Due to the nature of the classes the number of students are limited due to the nature of the training.
