USCCA Maryland Concealed Carry Course

You trained to carry. You trained to shoot. But have you trained for what happens after you’re forced to use your firearm in self-defense?
A defensive encounter may be over in seconds, but the decisions you make immediately afterward can have lasting consequences.
The Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) Course is designed to give you the basic knowledge and skills needed to safely own and handle a handgun in Maryland. During the class, we’ll cover handgun safety, basic operation and handling, safe storage, Maryland firearm laws, and responsible firearm ownership.
The course also includes the required live-fire component, where you’ll have the opportunity to safely handle and fire a handgun under the supervision of an instructor. No prior firearms experience is necessary—we’ll walk you through the process and make sure you understand the fundamentals.
Upon successful completion of the course, you’ll receive the training documentation needed to continue the Maryland HQL application process.
