What You'll Learn
This comprehensive training program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to meet Maryland’s legal training standards for both the Handgun Qualification License (HQL) and the Wear & Carry (CCW) Permit. Whether you are a first‑time firearm owner or preparing to carry a handgun for personal protection, this course delivers a complete foundation in safe, responsible, and lawful handgun use.
Students will learn essential firearm safety principles, Maryland firearm laws, use‑of‑force considerations, situational awareness, and defensive mindset development. Hands‑on instruction includes safe handling, loading and unloading, marksmanship fundamentals, holster considerations, and live‑fire exercises under direct instructor supervision.
This course includes:
Firearm safety fundamentals
Maryland firearm laws and regulations
Safe storage and transport requirements
Use‑of‑force and self‑defense principles
Situational awareness and threat avoidance
Handgun parts, operation, and maintenance
Concealed carry techniques and holster selection
Fundamentals of marksmanship and defensive shooting
Live‑fire qualification and performance evaluation
Successful completion of this course satisfies the Maryland HQL training requirement and meets the Maryland State Police training standards for the Wear & Carry Permit.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
