My Biography
I am Shirdariyon K. Williams, a USCCA Certified Instructor and the owner of Shepherd Defense Academy. I am passionate about helping responsible citizens become safer, more confident, and better prepared to protect themselves and the people they love.
My approach to firearms education is centered on safety, responsibility, practical knowledge, and confidence. I believe responsible firearm ownership goes beyond simply knowing how to shoot—it includes understanding safe handling, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, home defense, and making sound decisions under pressure.
Through Shepherd Defense Academy, I provide firearms safety education, basic handgun training, defensive firearms instruction, private instruction, range training, home-defense education, and specialized training for churches and security teams.
I am committed to creating a professional and welcoming training environment where students of all experience levels can learn without intimidation. Whether you are purchasing your first firearm, looking to improve your skills, or seeking defensive training, my goal is to help you develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to be a responsible protector.

Our Louisiana Concealed Carry Permit Course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, safety skills, and firearms training needed to responsibly carry a concealed handgun and meet applicable Louisiana training requirements.
The course covers firearm safety and handling, handgun fundamentals, safe storage, conflict avoidance, situational awareness, Louisiana concealed-carry laws, use-of-force principles, and required live-fire training.

Our Louisiana Concealed Carry Permit Renewal Course is designed for current permit holders who need to complete the required training for renewal of their Louisiana Concealed Handgun Permit.
This course provides a refresher on firearm safety, responsible concealed carry, handgun fundamentals, Louisiana concealed-carry laws, use-of-force principles, conflict avoidance, and situational awareness. Students will also complete the applicable live-fire portion of their renewal training.

Countering the Mass Shooter & Protecting God’s House is a specialized training program designed for churches, ministry leaders, security teams, ushers, and volunteers who want to be better prepared for emergencies and violent threats within a place of worship.
This course focuses on situational awareness, recognizing warning signs, emergency response planning, communication, lockdown and evacuation procedures, protecting children and vulnerable members, coordinating with law enforcement, and understanding the responsibilities of a church security team.
Participants will work through realistic church-based scenarios and learn how preparation, teamwork, and sound decision-making can help protect the congregation while maintaining a welcoming worship environment.
Our One-on-One Defensive Firearms Training provides personalized instruction tailored to your experience level, goals, and areas of improvement. Students receive focused coaching on firearm safety, proper handling, defensive shooting fundamentals, accuracy, and confidence.
Whether you’re a beginner looking to become more comfortable with a firearm or an experienced shooter wanting to sharpen your defensive skills, each session is designed around you. Training may include classroom instruction, dry-fire practice, and live-fire range training depending on the session.
