TVSA’s Idaho Enhanced Concealed Carry class not only meets requirements for a concealed carry permit in the great state of Idaho but goes above and beyond to offer legal and certified concealment reciprocity across 39 of the United States (40 if you qualify in Oregon; our certificate and curriculum are accepted as the required certification for the state of Oregon as well). Our curriculum focuses heavily on safety and situational awareness, what it means to be comfortable, confident, and skilled at using an firearm, and the mental fortitude necessary in the readiness to use your firearm to defend yourself and your loved ones. Our ECCW students learn about (or are refreshed on) the basics of firearms, firearm use, self-defense, home defense, and concealed carry.
Additional Focuses: • Understanding and using conflict avoidance to prevent escalation as well as the importance of de-escalation. • Understanding and using situational awareness. • Home Security and developing a home defense plan. • Understanding use of force and proper escalation of force in a self-defense scenario. • Basic shooting fundamentals and concepts. • Physiology of violent encounters – how your body responds to high stress situations. • How to handle the mental and legal aftermath of a self-defense situation.
This course is 4 hours in classroom and 3-4 hours at the shooting range.
Additional topics may include discussing what constitutes a good, reliable, concealed carry gun, as well as discussion around gear, such as concealed carry holsters and the differences between types and styles.
*Rental equipment (firearm/ammunition/eye & ear protection) is available for an additional fee and with advanced notice.
**All firearms must be unloaded and in a case or holster upon arrival. All firearms will remain in their case or holster until specifically directed to be taken out under the guidance of a TVSA Instructor.
Practical Concealed Carry - Level 1 (CTAC 1 - Concealed Efficiency) is designed to be an all-concealed class. This means every drill will be performed from concealment. This is intended to help develop the skills necessary (skills we all need to practice) to effectively respond to appropriate situations, as someone who carries a concealed weapon in day-to-day life. No tactical gear, just the clothes and equipment you carry with you every day.
CTAC-1 provides students with the tools and mindset necessary to properly defend themselves and their loved ones with a handgun. This class is four (4) hours of tactical pistol training at a shooting range. There are no prerequisites to this course, however, all students must be able to perform introductory-level skills such as basic weapons manipulation (i.e. locking slide to the rear, loading magazines, etc.). If students are not confident in their abilities with basic handgun manipulation, we recommend starting with our Handgun Basic Fundamental class and/or attending our Enhanced Concealed Carry class, both of which available on several dates throughout the year (see our class calendar at www.tvshootingacademy.com).
CTAC-1 is the prerequisite course that is required to attend the following classes: CTAC-2 (Introduction to Movement) PTAC-3 (Fire Team Drills).
Students will learn and practice drills in a safe, friendly, and supportive learning environment. Drills are intended to make students more comfortable with firing and manipulating their handgun from concealment, while also preparing them for a defensive encounter.
Class Information: The day begins with a safety brief as well as going over the mindset and philosophies regarding the defensive use of handguns. Then students will focus on dry fire manipulations, followed by live fire drills to introduce the proper placement of gear, loading/unloading and press checking, drawing and holstering, ready positions, moving with a firearm in ready positions, emergency reload, tactical reloads, clearing malfunctions, and fundamentals of marksmanship.
*Rental equipment (firearm/ammunition/eye & ear protection) is available for an additional fee and with advanced notice.
**All firearms must be unloaded and either in a case or holstered upon arrival. All firearms will remain in their case or holster until specifically directed to be taken out under the guidance of a TVSA Instructor.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.

Firearms are a reality in many homes, vehicles, and communities, making it critical for kids to know how to stay safe. Our children's firearm safety course is designed for children ages 7-11; to help them develop a strong, practical understanding of, and respect for, firearm safety in a way that is engaging, age-appropriate, and essential for their well-being. Children under 7 may still attend, we simply request to connect with parents to discuss the opportunity and the child's eligibility. Children will learn: • What firearms are and how they work – removing myths and dangerous curiosity. • The Four Universal Firearm Safety Rules – essential, non-negotiable principles for safety. • How to safely live in a home or be in a vehicle where firearms are present. • The serious responsibility that comes with firearms – helping kids make safe choices and avoid dangerous situations. Safety begins with education, prevention, and action. This class equips children with the knowledge and confidence to understand firearms responsibly, reducing fear and misinformation while promoting safe habits. For those who demonstrate responsibility, attentiveness, and respect for safety—along with parental permission and attendance—range time may be included as a hands-on learning opportunity. Firearm safety isn’t just important—it’s life-saving. Let’s empower our kids with the knowledge they need to stay safe.
