The NRA Range Safety Officer program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. NRA Range Safety Officers are people who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

This class is designed for people with no knowledge of firearms who are looking into obtaining a firearms for home amd personal defense. Topics discussed are universal firearms safety rules, operation and nomenclature of pistols, (semi-auto, revolver) shotguns and AR15 platform rifles. This class provides essential knowledge of firearms mechanics, ammo performance and choices as well as non lethal options for personal defense. This class consists of classrooom instruction as well as live fire excercises and exceeds the requirements necessary to apply for an Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons permit. This permit allows concealed carry in 37+ states. Fundamentals of defensive marksmanship, firearms safety, police interactions, aftermath of a defensive incident, malfunctions, method of carry, handgun nomenclature, and much more are discussed in detail. The Law segment is taught by local police supervisors. Both segments are conveniently taught at one location, The Fernan Rod and Gun Club. A light breakfast is provided. Space is limited.

Within this lesson, your instructor explains that developing a protection plan is about much more than becoming proficient with a firearm or writing up a home invasion plan.
