Hudson Garrett Jr

Dr. Hudson Garrett is the President and CEO of Self Defense of Georgia, LLC. He is a USCCA Training Counselor, Certified Instructor, and Range Safety Officer for the USCCA and a Certified Instructor and Chief Range Safety Officer for the NRA. He is certified to teach the NRA programs of NRA Basic Pistol, NRA Rifle, NRA Basics of Home Firearm Safety, NRA CCW, NRA Range Safety Officer, NRA Refuse to Be a Victim, NRA Defensive Pistol, NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home, NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Disciplines and the USCCA programs of USCCA Countering the Mass Shooter Threat, Emergency First Aid Fundamentals, LaserTrain, and Women’s Handgun & Self Defense Fundamentals Disciplines. He is a Taser Certified Civilian Trainer/Instructor and also a SABRE Pepper Spray Instructor. He also holds additional state specific licenses/certifications in North Carolina, Tennessee, and South Carolina.

He holds graduate certificates in healthcare leadership from Cornell, George Washington University, Yale, and the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Garrett is a member of the National Faculty Advisory Group for the Emergency Medical Patients: Assessment, Care, and Transport (EMPACT) and Health and Safety Institute. He holds specialty certifications in the areas of Armed Church Security Volunteer, Surviving the Active Shooter/Dangerous Intruder Incident, Reading Body Language, and Verbal and Physical De-escalation. He is a Certified Self-Defense Instructor with the American Sports and Fitness Association. He is a Certified Taser Civilian Trainer and a COBRA Defense Certified Instructor. He is a certified Situation Awareness Specialist and Advanced Practitioner (SAS-AP) thru the Arcuri Group. Dr. Garrett has over 15 years of teaching experience educating the community, public safety, firearms owners, and medical professionals on various life-saving techniques. He holds multiple certifications from the International for Healthcare Security and Safety.

He is a Wilderness Certified Emergency Medical Technician and is a Nationally Certified Emergency Medical Technician. He is a Board-Certified Tactical Responder by the International Board of Specialty Certifications. Additionally, he is a certified Instructor Trainer with the National Safety Council, American Red Cross, and American Safety and Health Institute. He is an appointed Training Center Faculty member with the American Heart Association. He is a National Ambassador and Course Director for the Department of Defense Stop the Bleed program, Dr. Garrett holds Instructor Trainer certification in the AVERT Active Shooter Curriculum. He is a Glock Certified Armorer. Self Defense of Georgia is both a USCCA and NRA Official Partner.
