What You'll Learn
Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals
This course is specifically designed for women who are new to shooting. You’ll learn the fundamentals of firearm safety, situational and self-defense awareness, and gain familiarity with handguns—all while getting hands-on experience practicing essential skills.
Whether you feel nervous, unsure, or have never handled a firearm before, you’ll be guided at a comfortable pace in a supportive environment. My goal is to help you develop the knowledge, mindset, and skills needed to safely and confidently handle a firearm both on and off the range.
This women-only course is led by a female USCCA- and NRA-certified instructor. The class begins in a private, comfortable instructional setting, followed by two hours of live-fire training at the range.
My focus is on building a strong foundation in safety, proper technique, and responsible firearm ownership—so you leave feeling informed, empowered, and confident.
What You’ll Learn: The core rules of firearm safety Situational awareness and self-defense principles Handgun parts, function, and operation Proper stance and grip Sight alignment and sight picture Trigger control fundamentals Safe loading and unloading procedures How to properly handle and secure a firearm

What We'll Teach
Defensive Shooting Fundamentals
This lesson will continue with the basics, including a very visual overview of what we call the “building blocks” or the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting. Within this lesson, Michael Martin will explain the differences between the skills required for being a good “marksman” at the range, and the skills that might be required to save your life if you are ever the subject of a violent attack.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
RANGE DETAILS: Students will meet at Iron Sights Indoor Shooting Range in Oceanside, CA. For those who are new to Iron Sights, you will be expected to complete a digital registration before you begin. Please consider time you will need to complete this. You may consider going to Iron Sights to complete this step before you attend this course. Bring $20 cash for range fees and 100 rounds of ammunition.
