My Biography
Erik Duane is a retired Marine officer with over 30 years of service (both active duty and reserve) with a passion for teaching. With over 20 years’ experience and a master’s degree in education, Erik enjoys educating students on their firearm’s journey developing their skills in personal defense and the safe practices associated with responsible firearms ownership.

This class is FOR ORANGE COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY!
Evan’s Gun World Concealed Carry Course is designed to meet the Orange County Sheriff's Department requirement of certified instruction in order for a law-abiding citizen to apply for an OCSD Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) License. The course is a complete guide to understanding conflict avoidance and situational awareness; home security and home defense; handgun basics; shooting fundamentals; the physiology of violent encounters; the legal aspects of using deadly force (including knowing what to do in the aftermath); and a complete guide on gear, gadgets, and ongoing training. It includes a required firearms qualification course of fire for each handgun a permit holder plans to carry.
NOTE: This is meets the 8 to 16 hour training requirement by OCSD CCW Licensing unit to fulfill the training requirement for a CCW license. This class and the follow on, PART B, are both held using a computer, web cam, and conference-chat software. YOU MUST HAVE THESE DEVICES in order to attend this class. If you are unsure of anything, please reach out to the instructor.
LIVESCAN will be provided on site. Approximate charge $115
The CCW re-certification course provides the requirements for a current OCSD CCW permit holder to renew their permit.
Students signing up for this class must already have: 1. A current OCSD CCW permit 2. A computer with internet connection and a web-camera.
NOTE: Not meeting these prerequisites will result in being dropped from the class.
The 4-hour class time will be conducted online via a lecture-based webinar and is a virtual, instructor-led training course. Class invites will be sent out the week prior to the class date. Students will be expected to be online for the entire class. Breaks will be given during online instruction.
In-person activities (firearms breakdown, cleaning, manipulations, written exam, and firearms qualifications) will be conducted at Evan’s Gun World in Orange.
Appointments will be made for students to perform the final aspects of qualifications (mentioned above)
Full Payment of $129 will be taken at the time of in-person activities.
Emergency First Aid Fundamentals is an introduction on the emergency treatment of injuries ranging from common to traumatic.
The Beginning Shooter-Safe Handgun class is for the first-time shooter just starting out with handgun basics. Students will learn safe handling practices, universal safety rules, basic handgun marksmanship, range etiquette and will be escorted through the process from beginning to end with close supervision. This course is powered by the USCCA.
The $1 fee (non-refundable) holds your spot for the class. You will pay $89 in person at the range + COST OF AMMUNITION

The Introduction to Defensive Shooting Fundamentals is the first step into understanding the elements of a violent encounter or dynamic critical incident where a firearm is used for personal defense either in the home or outside the home. Students who sign up for this class must complete the entire online course before their attendance.
