Cost: $250 non-refundable plus $25 range fee on the day of class.
Course Description: This one-day pistol course is designed to break down the fundamental base of handgun shooting techniques, as they relate to the semi-automatic pistol, and offers a kinesthetic approach to foundation of pistol shooting. Students should prepare for time spent on their feet and wear comfortable clothing.
About your instructor:
Jim Owens is a U.S. Army veteran who served as an infantryman. He spent 18 years as a police officer in a large Midwest municipality. He has been teaching law enforcement, active duty military and civilians for 18 years.
In that time, Jim has developed a teaching style that is balanced with competence, patience, comprehensiveness and humor while keeping the safety of the students at the forefront. His techniques, constant adherence to practical applications and high standards for those he is teaching makes for a rewarding experience!
This course is a fundamentally based course for shooting. A shooter who has a solid foundation in pistol shooting but who may be new to optics would benefit from this course. This course re-enforces fundamentals from a comprehensive approach.
What to expect in class;
-Waivers -Safety briefing and introductions -Range rules and emergency procedures -Range Orientation -Explanation of modern shooting techniques -Gear check -Establishing a baseline of current skill -Focus on foundation and defensive use of handguns -Correct Posture/Stance -Tactile handling of firearms -Grip and Trigger manipulation -Importance of vision -Standard and non-standard response -kinesthetic approach to foundation of pistol shooting -Acclimation of techniques through process and awareness level approach -Transition to pistol mounted optics for those new to optics -End of the day challenges -Range cleanup and debriefing
Required Equipment List:
-A dependable semi-automatic mid to full-size handgun (avoid pocket guns and revolvers for this course) with a minimum of 5 magazines -A back up mid or full-size handgun -600 rounds of quality ammunition ( yes 600 it’s a shooting class, we may not shoot all 600 but it’s better to have more) -A holster made for your gun, no “Serpa” style holsters are allowed, or any type of holster that requires your trigger finger to disengage the holster retention device. -A brimmed hat or baseball hat -Eye protection -Ear protection, preferably electronic not muffs -Sturdy belt, make sure you have pants with belts loops, no yoga pants or spanks! -Closed toe shoes, no sandals or crocs -Pen and small note pad -Black sharpie marker -Sunscreen -A water bottle -Snacks and your lunch

Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 21 Days in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 21 days before the class will not be refunded.
