Times: 08:30am to 4:30pm
Cost: $250 plus $25 range fee. The tuition fee is paid up front and non-refundable under 21 days. The range fee is paid in cash on the day of class.
Course Description: This one day carbine course is designed to break down the fundamental basics of shooting techniques, as they relate to the defensive carbine, and offers a kinesthetic approach to foundation. Students should prepare for the time spent on their feet and wear comfortable shoes and clothing.
About your instructor: Jim Owens is a U.S. Army veteran who served as an infantryman. He spent 18 years as a police officer in a large Midwest municipality. He has been teaching law enforcement, active-duty military, and civilians for 18 years.
In that time, Jim developed a teaching style that is balanced with competence, patience, comprehensiveness, and humor while keeping the safety of the students at the forefront. His techniques, constant adherence to practical applications, and high standards for those he is teaching make for a rewarding experience!
This course is designed to teach the fundamental principles of carbine. However, experienced shooters would benefit as well from experiencing different techniques and approaches to training.
Key Course Layout:
-Waivers -Safety briefing and introductions -Range rules and emergency procedures -Range Orientation -Explanation of modern shooting techniques -Gear check -Establishing a baseline of current skill -Zeroing/Confirming Zero of Optics/Irons as needed (PLEASE TRY AND COME WITH A ZERO, 25, 36 or 50 for irons or dots) -Foundation and Posture -Tactile handling of firearms -Grip, posture and Trigger manipulation -Standard and non-standard response -Acclimation of techniques through process and awareness level approach -Various challenges
Required Equipment List: -A dependable semi-automatic carbine with a minimum of 5 magazines -A backup carbine if you have one -Carbines can be chambered in .223/5.56/7.62x39 only unless other arrangements are made -600 rounds of quality ammunition (yes, 600 it’s a shooting class :)) -A quality two-point sling is preferred, but a one-point sling is acceptable -Magazine pouches and/or a chest rig or battle belt setup are all acceptable for the carbine. -Hat/ball cap. -Eye protection. -Ear protection, preferably electronic, not muffs. -Sturdy belt; make sure you have pants with belt loops, no yoga pants or spanks! -Closed-toe shoes, no sandals or Crocs. -Pen and small notebook. -Black Sharpie marker. -Sunscreen. -A water bottle and water. -Snacks and your lunch.
Recommended Equipment: -Bug spray (seasonal). -Rain gear. -Anti-lead hand wipes. -Extra batteries for your electronic devices. -A range bag. -Clear eye protection. -Dump pouch. -Cleaning kit for all platforms.

Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 21 Days in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 21 days before the class will not be refunded.
