My Biography

I have been an avid shooter since 2016, and have been shooting now for over 20 years. I am currently teaching basic marksmanship and defensive pistol shooting classes.

I have received instruction from the American Weapons Academy, Nielsen Training and Consulting, Front Sight, Gunsite Academy, Dynamic Combative Solutions, and Dave Spaulding.

I am one of the co-leaders for the local Armed Women of America chapter, as well as the curriculum coordinator for training. I also participate in the on-going training at Gunsite Academy chapter of Armed Women of America and Fabled Horse Solutions.

I am a retired schoolteacher and now dedicate myself to firearms instruction and training. I hold NRA instructor level certifications as “Pistol Instructor” and “Personal Protection in the Home Instructor,” and additionally I am an NRA certified “Chief Range Safety Officer.” I also hold USCCA certifications as Concealed Carry and Home Defense and Women's Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals instructor, and Emergency First Aid Fundamentals.

I have a BA degree from California State University and a MS degree from California Baptist University.

"Fantastic class! Two instructors, Jim and Lynn, and only four students in my class. Classes can be a little larger, but they keep the instructor to student ratio VERY LOW. The first half of class was in a classroom where basic functions of the rifle were covered including disassembly and reassembly along with range safety. After lunch we took our guns out to the range, where a range master also joined us. These instructors are highly skilled VOLUNTEERS. (I think that explains why the class cost is so reasonable!) They are there to help you learn in a safe environment, and answer any question you have. You sight-in your rifle and get specific tips to make it easier for you to use. In my case, I ended up getting an ambidextrous safety and change to my front sling mount. Very helpful. By the end of the class, I felt comfortable and safe using the rifle, goal met. Now I need to pracrice, practice, practice! They offer a lot of classes, and I look forward to taking more. These guys are great, class prices are the best - and no hard sell, thank you!"
