Your First Line of Defense is YOU

Emergency First Aid
Fundamentals

In an emergency, every second counts. If the time ever comes, you’ll be able to take meaningful action by learning the basic first aid and lifesaving techniques taught in this course.

Be the One That Won’t Falter in a Moment of Chaos

“The five minutes of bystander action (or inaction) very likely makes the difference between life or death.”

– Michael Martin, Author, Emergency First Aid Fundamentals (2017)

Our Emergency First Aid Fundamentals class teaches you basic first aid and lifesaving techniques to be used in the event of a medical emergency.

You will learn how to properly assess a patient and how to deal with significant issues such as venous and arterial bleeding, compromised airway, head, chest, and spinal injuries, broken bones, burns, heart attacks, seizures, strokes, and more. Finally, students will learn how to build their own First Aid/Trauma Kit.

Band-Aids to Tourniquets

While most Americans are comfortable applying a simple bandage to deal with minor scrapes and cuts, the vast majority are unequipped to effectively handle severe, life-threatening injuries or illnesses during a medical emergency, especially when every second counts.

The goal of Emergency First Aid Fundamentals is to help you gain the knowledge, confidence, and competence needed to deal with dozens of medical and traumatic emergencies.

Traumatic Emergency vs. Medical Emergency

Not every emergency is created equally. There are significant differences between the two main types of emergencies you may encounter, and EFAF will teach you how to systematically assess and address both.

You’ll learn what to do if you witness traumatic emergencies such as serious falls, car accidents, or even gunshot wounds, and medical emergencies like heart attack, cardiac arrest, diabetic emergencies, stroke, seizures, hypothermia, heatstroke, venomous snakebites, and many more.

Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK)

It’s important to note that you won’t find household items such as Band-Aids in a well-stocked Individual First Aid Fits, otherwise known as an IFAK, since their purpose is to provide you with products that will mitigate a number of specific life threats. During this class, you will learn about, build, and stock your very own IFAK, and give yourself an invaluable resource to carry with you on every outing.

Simulated Real-Life Scenarios

Having the proper mindset will allow you to jump into action, see past broken bones, spurting blood, and hysterical bystanders, and allow you to focus on the task at hand. The most effective way to achieve a proper state of mind is to walk through simulated real-life scenarios which give you a chance to overcome your body and mind’s natural reaction to a traumatic scene.
