What You'll Learn
Aspiring Firearms Instructor Development Program
Becoming a firearms instructor requires more than firearms knowledge or shooting ability. An effective instructor must be able to communicate, observe, demonstrate, coach, manage safety, evaluate performance, and make sound decisions while responsible for the development of others.
The Firearms Safety First, LLC Aspiring Firearms Instructor Development Program is a six-week, small-cohort instructor-readiness and mentoring program designed for individuals preparing to pursue formal firearms instructor certification and for newer instructors seeking additional development.
Candidates will work on instructor fundamentals including lesson preparation and delivery, communication and presentation skills, student observation and coaching, classroom and range safety, range management, professional conduct, performance evaluation, problem recognition and correction, after-action review, and instructor self-evaluation.
Training progresses from learning and observation to practical application. Candidates may observe experienced instruction, participate in structured exercises and teach-backs, and demonstrate their ability to communicate and apply instructional principles in a controlled environment. Practical and range activities emphasize safety, judgment, professionalism, and the instructor’s responsibility to model the standard expected of students.
The purpose of this program is preparation, not preemption. Candidates are not being taught to pass a particular instructor-certification course. They are developing the foundational habits, judgment, communication skills, and professional readiness needed to arrive at formal instructor training prepared to learn and continue developing afterward.
Important: This is an independent Firearms Safety First, LLC instructor-development program. It is not a USCCA Instructor Certification Course, does not award USCCA instructor certification, and is not a USCCA Training Counselor course. Completion of this program does not guarantee successful completion of any future instructor-certification course.
Class size is limited to six candidates to allow individualized observation, coaching, feedback, and mentoring.
Prepare. Don’t Preempt. Model the Standard.
