We will continue with explaining and demonstrating the seven basic fundamentals for safe and accurate shooting. This is an introductory course, targeted towards new students, less experienced shooters, and those who want to tighten up their fundamental skills.
This lesson will teach the basics, including a very visual overview of what we call the “building blocks” or the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting. Within this lesson we explain the differences between the skills required for being a good “marksman” at the range, and the skills that might be required to save your life if you are ever the subject of a violent attack.
Class structured for those who are first-time shooters, individuals with very little firearms experience, or those looking to refine their fundamental skills. Drills will focus on grip, stance, aiming (sight-picture), and tightening shot groups. Course will include classroom time and live fire practice.
This class will include a combination of the basics of firearms usage. We will cover the fundamental considerations of how to use a firearm. We will then put those skills into practice with live fire on the range.
Lastly, we will discuss several accessories including holsters, lights, lasers, and other items that you may need to consider as a part of being a well-rounded, responsible gun owner.
Learning Objectives:
- Four Rules of Gun Safety
- Fundamentals including Grip, Stance, and Sight alignment
- Holsters
- Tactical Flashlights
- Laser Sights
- Gun Safes and Storage
- Other Items
This course is intended for new to intermediate level students. It will include a combination of in class instruction as well as live range practice.
We will begin with the basics of how to safely use a firearm. Training will continue with live fire drills on the range. The class will then conclude with a lesson on the legal use of force.
In this online only class, we will cover topics centered around the legal use of force. While we emphasize the importance of avoiding conflict and escaping confrontations as a primary option, it is important to consider how we should manage self-defense from both a legal and practical perspective. The decision that you only had seconds to make can end up being examined by police, prosecutors, juries and the media for days, months or years into the future.
Considering how we should respond in advance can mean the difference between being on the right side of the law, versus facing a legal system that may not be in approval of your quick decision. We will also review a few real life videos of self-defense encounters and talk about what the victims did right and how we may respond. We will also discuss a few simulated scenarios where we can consider what choices we would make in the same situation.
*We will explore topics including:
*Reasonable force
*Deadly force
*The use of force continuum
*How may a prosecutor evaluate your case
*Defense of the home
*Defense of property

Handgun Basics Level 2 + Range Session This is the second class in our three-part training series for the Concealed Carry and Home Defense curriculum. It is also useful as a stand-alone class for students of all backgrounds. While many classes focus on how to become a more proficient shooter, this course is intended to get students thinking in advance about both the legal considerations surrounding the use of force, as well as understanding what they may experience leading up to, during, and after a violent encounter. The class will be led by two accredited instructors, who specialize in helping students of all skill levels become more confident self-defenders. We teach in an environment that is welcoming for all demographics. We sincerely believe that all law-abiding citizens should be trained to be their own first responders. Above all, we place the highest emphasis on safety in all training activities. The first half of the classroom instruction will cover topics centered around the legal use of force. While we emphasize the importance of avoiding conflict and escaping confrontations as a primary option, it is important to consider how we should manage self-defense from both a legal and practical perspective. The decision that you only had seconds to make, can end up being examined by police, prosecutors, juries, and the media for days, months or years into the future. Considering how we should respond in advance can mean the difference between being on the right side of the law, versus facing a legal system that may not be in approval of your quick decision. Legal Use of Force topics include: • Reasonable force • Deadly force • The use of force continuum • How may a prosecutor evaluate your case • Defense of the home • Defense of property
The second half of classroom instruction will cover Violent Encounters and Their Aftermaths. Here we will prepare students to understand what physical responses the body may experience during and after a life-or-death defensive encounter. This includes tunnel vision, increase in adrenaline, and other effects. We will then discuss some options you may be able to use to prevent a pending attack, and what to do when you are left with no other choice but to stop the threat. Lastly, we will discuss what should you do in the immediate aftermath of a self defense encounter. This includes, where should you go, what phone calls should you make, how do you handle dealing with the arrival of the police.
Violent Encounters and Their Aftermaths topics include:
• The Body’s Physical Responses to a Pending Attack
• Evaluating Your Options
• When You’re Left With No Other Choice
• The immediate Aftermath
• When Police Arrive
• The Financial Aftermath
Live range coaching with an instructor is included with this class. However if you do wish to receive range practice, we do require that students have either taken our Handgun Basics Level 1 class, or to have had some other competent training in the basic usage of a handgun. Please see the level one class offerings, or speak to an instructor, if you have had no previous experience with firearms.
Due to the size of the class, the live fire range session will be scheduled individually for each student on a date and time that works best for the students and instructor.
Course Package Includes:
Eye and Ear protection, targets, textbook, certificate of completion, range fees, and pistol rental if required. Classroom training and live fire range practice with an instructor.
*Please note ammunition is not included in the package fee. Students are responsible for providing their own ammunition. We encourage you to bring your own ammunition. You may also purchase ammunition at the range. Supplies are limited.
Due to the size of the class, the live fire range session will be scheduled individually for each student on a date and time that works best for the students and instructor.
Please note that students are not allowed to bring loaded firearms into the classroom. All student firearms should be unloaded, with ammunition stored separately.
This is the second class in a three-part training series. This class is intended to get students to consider implications beyond just pointing and pressing the trigger. However, we do encourage students to continue training in all three levels. This will provide a more well-rounded education in not only becoming a more proficient handgun owner, but additional considerations for concealed carry, potential legal implications of a self-defense encounter, discussions on how to secure your home, and more. Upon completion of Basic Handgun Levels 1,2, and 3, students will receive a signed certificate of completion for the USCCA Concealed Carry and Home Defense Curriculum.
