Qualification Level 1:

Course Description

STEP 1: In-Person Training There is no substitute for in-person training with a certified firearms instructor. Every responsible gun owner should take an in-person class to truly sharpen his or her skills, build confidence and forge a protector mindset.

Requirements: Take a two-hour in-person class of your choice with a certified firearms instructor. Simply return to this section of your Protector Academy training to add your course into your account after completion.

STEP 2: Complete your Level 01 Shooting Qualification: Basic Handgun Marksmanship Course Overview: Marksmanship is a crucial foundation for any responsibly armed American. Now that you have completed your foundational training, it is time to test yourself on the range. Course of Fire: You will now complete a series of basic handgun marksmanship challenges meant to test your accuracy at different ranges. There will be NO time limits. This is purely a test of your accuracy with your self-defense handgun.

Stage 1: Put your target 3 yards away from you on the range. Fire 10 rounds at the 9-inch center circle. Stage 2: Move your target until it is 5 yards away from you. Fire 10 rounds at the 9-inch center circle. Stage 3: Move your target until it is 7 yards away from you. Fire 10 rounds at the 9-inch center circle. Stage 4: Move your target until it is 10 yards away from you. Fire 10 rounds at the 9-inch center circle. Stage 5: Move your target until it is 15 yards away from you. Fire 10 rounds at the 9-inch center circle. Assessment: If you successfully placed 70% of your shots (35 or more) inside the 9-inch center target, you have completed your Level 01 USCCA Qualification. (“Inside” does not include breaking the ring; shots must fully be inside the ring to count.)

STEP 2: Complete your Level 02 Shooting Qualification: Loading, Reloading, Clearing Malfunctions and Unloading Course Overview: Defensive firearms training is not just about shooting hundreds of rounds. It is practicing real skills like reloading and clearing malfunctions under stress.

We will simulate this stress with timed drills. But you are also responsible for every round you fire in a self-defense situation. So you must also accurately hit your target 100% of the time.

Success Criteria: You must complete the following:

Competency check: Load, unload and show clear (using snap caps). Load firearm with a 3-round magazine, shoot until empty with the slide locked back and then clear your firearm and place it on the table. You must achieve 100% hits within the 9-inch center of the target in the allotted time. Load firearm with a three-round magazine, shoot until empty and the slide locks back, reload the firearm with the second three-round magazine and re-engage the target by shooting until empty with the slide locked back. Then clear your firearm and place it on the table. You must achieve 100% hits within the 9-inch center of the target in the allotted time. Load firearm with a three-round magazine plus 1 snap cap. Shoot, clear malfunction, re-engage the target, reload the second magazine, re-engage the target, clear malfunction and re-engage the target until empty with the slide locked back. Then clear your firearm and place it on the table. You must achieve 100% hits within the 9-inch center of the target in the allotted time. Course of Fire: You will now complete a series of drills meant to test your ability to load and unload, load and shoot, reload, and clear malfunctions while engaging a target at the distance of 3 yards. Every drill will be timed. This course of fire is designed to test your ability to complete these tasks under the stress of time while accurately engaging your target at a plausible self-defense distance

Learn basic taser operation for civilian.

REQUIREMENTS: Take a live-fire, six-hour firearms course with a certified firearms instructor. Add your course into your Protector Academy™ account after completion. SUCCESS CRITERIA: You must complete each drill within the time allotted. Additionally, you must hit all designated target areas on your USCCA DSF Target based on the requirements for each drill. COURSE OF FIRE: You will complete a series of drills meant to test your speed and precision. Each drill will be timed.
