My Biography
My name is Sam Brooks and I'm the Owner/Chief Instructor of Brooks Defense Solutions. My experience includes a decade of martial arts and firearms training, 3 years in firearms sales, 4+ years of armed security, and having first-hand experience working with individuals with disabilities.

Students must sign up in-person at the store no later than 7 pm the day before the class. Class will be held on one day and then students will need to schedule the one-on-one live fire portion for a separate day (2 people max if you attended the class with another student). The class fee covers range time, textbooks, ear/eye protection and gun rental except the ammunition.
Donuts and coffee will be provided in the morning.
What exactly is “constitutional carry” and how does it affect me? With more and more states passing constitutional carry and similar laws, it’s important to know what you can and can’t do if it passes in your state or if you decide to relocate to a state with the law, as well as the legal use of force.

In this class, we explain the proper way to assess a patient, as well as, the proper way to deal with significant issues such as serious bleeding, chest injuries, a compromised airway, spinal injuries, broken bones and more.
Whether you’re planning an event or would like one-on-one instruction, in this class, you’ll learn the basics of handling a handgun through the use of a SIRT pistol (there is no live fire during this class). We’ll cover a variety of topics such as stance, grip, natural point of aim, sight alignment, trigger pull, and much more.
Whether your child is about to start high school or is already in high school, this class is perfect for them and you as the parent. This mini-class will cover topics such as the color codes of awareness, areas to avoid (ex: low-lit vs. well-lit areas), etc.

This is part 2 of our Women’s Basic Pistol course. In the intermediate pistol class, we’ll be incorporating all of the fundamentals that was taught in the basic class with additional drills while on the range using live fire.
This is part 3 of the Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense course. In order to sign up for this class, you must have a valid CPL / CCW. Along with the drills that we’ve covered in the previous two classes, we’ll introduce you to tactical and speed reloading, drawing from a holster / concealment, shooting from cover and various positions, and much more.
This lesson will introduce you to the basics, including a visual overview of the fundamentals for accurate and safe shooting. You’ll learn the basic anatomy of a handgun, proper stance, loading a magazine, sight alignment, and trigger pull where you’ll finish with a live fire session that ranges from 3 feet to 7 yards (the typical distance for a self-defense encounter). If it's time to renew your MI CPL, we'll be covering the legal portion and then going to the range to re-qualify.
Leave any and all weapons (i.e. firearms, pepper spray, knives, tasers, etc) and ammunition in your vehicle until given instruction by the RSO and instructor.
Bring your handgun and 100 rounds of ammo. We'll only have a limited amount of 22LR and 9mm ammo as well as a couple handguns that you can rent so it's first come, first served.
Topics include a detailed explanation of what students should know avoiding, escaping, and defending against an attacker, and even what the student should know about their obligations under the law when it comes to the legal right to use force. Brooks then explains and demonstrates a number of methods of drawing a firearm from a holster. Three different types of reload methods are demonstrated. This lesson is also concluded with a number of on and off the range drills, including learning how to use cover and concealment, and even how to shoot on the move.
There's one important place that you should always feel safe...your home! Topics include developing a personal and home protection plan, firearm basics, legal use of force, what happens during a violent encounter and its aftermath, and the various gear and gadgets for your firearm.
