At Home Assurance Firearms Training provides professional, responsible firearms education focused on home defense and concealed carry for law-abiding citizens. Our instruction emphasizes safety, sound judgement, and practical defensive skills designed for real-world situations - not aggression.
Founded and led by Kirk Ross Jr, Certified Firearms Instructor, At Home Assurance is committed to helping individuals and families develop the knowledge, confidence, and decision-making skills necessary to responsibly protect themselves within the boundaries of the law. Our training is accessible to new firearm owners while remaining valuable for experienced shooters seeking practical, defensively focused education.

From Safety to Skill: The 2-Hour Mastery Workshop Master the fundamentals. Feel the recoil. Gain the confidence. Whether you are a first-time shooter or looking to sharpen your skills, the 50/50 Range Intensive is designed to take you from a curious beginner to a confident operator in just two hours. This is not just a lecture; it is a hands-on experience designed to bridge the gap between understanding firearm safety and executing a perfect shot.
Hour 1: The Safety Foundations (Classroom) Your journey begins with a deep dive into the Core 4 Rules of Firearm Safety. In this high-impact hour, we strip away the intimidation and focus on the mechanics. You will learn:
- The Anatomy of a Handgun: Understanding how your firearm actually works.
- Safe Handling & Storage: How to maintain a secure environment at home and at the range.
- The Fundamentals of Marksmanship: Mastering your stance, grip, and sight alignment before you even step onto the line.
- Emergency Procedures: How to clear malfunctions and stay in control at all times. Hour 2: The Live-Fire Experience (Range) Now, we put the theory into practice. You’ll move to the live-fire range for an hour of guided shooting. Under the watchful eye of a professional instructor, you will:
- Apply the Fundamentals: Feel the difference a proper grip and stance make in your accuracy.
- Live-Fire Drills: Progress from single shots to controlled strings of fire.
- Real-Time Coaching: Receive immediate feedback on your technique to correct "flinching" or "anticipation."
- Build Muscle Memory: Leave the range not just knowing how to shoot, but feeling what it’s like to hit your target consistently. Who This Is For:

Defensive Shooting Fundamentals: Defensive shooting versus Marksmanship, Grip, Shooting Platform, Aligning the Muzzle to Target, Point Shooting, Unsighted/Sighted Fire, Flash Sight Picture, Trigger Control
Gear and Gadgets: Holster Types and Holster Retention, Belts, Flashlights, Weapon Mounted Lights, Lasers, Firearms Storage
Basic and Advanced Skills: Creating a Training Program, Dry Firing, Drills, What's Next?
Cancellation Policy: Payment is non-refundable. If notice is given at least 24 hours in advance, class fee can be transferred to another class within 90 days one time only. Students that "no show", without contacting the instructor prior to class, will forfeit their class fee funds.
