Goal • The goal of this course is to inform and educate real estate agents on how to stay safe on the job.

Objectives • Recognize the unique aspects of your job that put you at risk of a violent encounter.

• Learn to avoid violent encounters by developing an acute awareness of your surroundings.

• Differentiate between “looking” and “seeing,” and understand how to detect threat indicators early.

• Recognize the physical and psychological effects that you might experience during a dynamic critical incident.

• Learn how to employ various defensive strategies to mitigate an unwanted encounter before it escalates.

• Recognize the defensive options — both armed and unarmed — you can use to help keep you safe.

• Describe how to treat various traumatic and medical emergencies.

• Understand the key features and benefits of USCCA Membership.

In this course we will cover identifying and knowing the signs, assessing risk and risk factors, direct indicators, creating a deterrence, protection and response. Create an Emergency Operations Plan, Special Considerations for Houses of Worship and Unique Challenges, Evaluating your Security. Review Run, Hide, Fight and how to Treat and Triage the Wounded.

We will start our day in a conference room at an area hotel and then move to the range after the classroom portion is completed. Bring or wear range appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

At the end of the course, you will receive a 270 page color "coffee table" book that is easy to read, full of photos, diagrams and checklists to help you reinforce the knowledge you gain during the class. This quick reference guide will be timeless and handy for you to keep your skills and awareness up! This book is valued at $35 retail.

Your range fees will be paid by the instructor for ease of access/entry to the range facility. They are valued at just under $15 per person.

A .22 caliber firearm and ammunition will be provided for you. You will shoot two, 10-round magazines for a total of 20 rounds during this course. The price for using this gun and ammunition is included in your registration fee. If you would like to use your own firearm, please contact the instructor in advance. Your skills and experience would need to be assessed and the firearm and ammunition would need to be inspected. It is strongly suggested that you use the provided firearm to complete this course and schedule separate time with the instructor to work with your personally owned weapon.

No personal firearms or ammunition are allowed in the classroom. Training aides will be provided by the instructor.

Instructor will provide water and light snacks in the classroom environment. No full lunch will be provided. You may bring your own bagged lunch if you choose because once the classroom portion is completed, we will immediately migrate over to the range.

During this 90 minute to two hour class (depending upon your experience) you will learn the basic, safe, disassembly of your firearm into its major components, known as “field stripping.” You will learn the proper inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of these parts, and the proper re-assembly and function check of the firearm. This skillset is critical to maintaining your firearm so that it is always ready and properly functioning when it is needed to protect yourself, your home, and your family.
The price of this course includes: a caliber-specific gun cleaning kit; a gun cleaning mat; patches and cotton swabs. These items constitute a "basic" gun cleaning kit, which can be replenished and/or increased over time, as necessary. The student will take these items with them at the conclusion of class. Multiple types of cleaning solvents and lubricants will be demonstrated and used during the class however, the student is responsible for obtaining their own personal selection of fluids for home use upon completing the course. Also provided will be latex or non-latex gloves. You are responsible for bringing clear eye protection to this class. This is mandatory.

This class will be taught by multiple instructors, led by Susie Dreiling of CDS LLC (Bio below). It will introduce the concept of threat awareness and help students develop the mindset necessary for either avoiding or freeing themselves from situations in which they feel or become threatened. We will be demonstrating the ability of the body to act as a self-defense tool, and how to make use of the body’s own tools, as well as common everyday items, in the defense of self. This class is a great introduction into self-empowerment and personal safety.

This class is open to individuals age 18 and over (ages 15-17 are allowed with parent signature of waiver). Class size limited to 20 students.

This presentation will define the term “Active Shooter” and discuss the unique characteristics that separate these types of events from traditional criminal actions. The discussion will explore the nexus between past events, lessons learned and current domestic and international environments. The copycat or contagion effect that influences these scenarios will be discussed, along with the potential for both insider and outsider threats that may result in an Active Shooter event. We will explore the vulnerabilities and challenges associated with Active Shooter and hostile threat scenarios that exist as targets such as Nuclear Power Plants, Churches, Schools, Malls, Businesses, Hospitals and Medical Groups as well as the influence that violent extremism has on individuals who may display warning signs that indicate a propensity for violence. The behavioral characteristics and common motives that define Active Shooters, and the importance of well-defined plans and contingency courses of action in a variety of scenarios will be explored.

I am a USCCA Certified Range Safety Officer and an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer who is authorized to teach and certify new RSOs. This course deep-dives into the requisite knowledge base and is "hands-on." It uses the NRA certified content and if you pass all requirements, you will graduate with a nationally recognized NRA Certificate.

NRA Range Safety Officer Course (approx. 9 hours)

The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) Course is designed to develop NRA Certified Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. These skills are essential to volunteering or working at a range in the RSO role. You will receive a Nationally recognized certificate. This course is the prerequisite for the Chief Range Safety Officer Certification Course.

Course Description

The NRA RSO Course is a valuable first step in enhancing your awareness of gun safety when there is a single shooter or multiple shooters, on a formal range or shooting at a remote location. Per the course goal, students will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. These skills are essential to volunteering or working at a range in the RSO role. The RSO supervises shooting activities as prescribed by the range Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). They are also valuable for keeping a group of recreational shooters safe while shooting together in any formal or informal environment. This course is the prerequisite for the Chief Range Safety Officer Certification Course. It is also excellent training to receive prior to attending the Basic Pistol Instructor Course.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (Classroom and Live Fire Course - approx 8 hours)

Course Goal To teach the Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude Necessary for Owning and Using a Pistol Safely. This course teaches you how a handgun works, how to handle a handgun safely, the fundamentals of shooting and much more. This is an 8 hour course that covers all of the basic fundamentals of owning, storing and shooting a pistol. The first part of the class is in a classroom, then we move to the range. You may bring your own firearm with instructor permission; it must be secured in your vehicle until we get to the range. The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course is a requirement if you would like to become an NRA Certified Instructor in the future. The Florida Department of Agriculture accepts the NRA Certificate you receive from this course to apply for your Florida Concealed Carry Weapon License.

NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course (approx. 8 hours)

Course Goal: Teach the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.

This course is at least 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

Course Goal:

This is a very basic, introductory course for the individual with no firearms experience and looking for a solid foundation before taking the FIRST Steps Pistol or Rifle Orientation Course or the Basics of Pistol Shooting Course. The goal is to highlight the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential for selecting, safely handling, storing and cleaning a firearm. Topics covered are: Gun Safety, Gun Storage, Types of Firearms and Their Parts, Magazines, Ammunition, Sights, What to Expect on the Range, What You Need at the Range, Cleaning Your Gun, and NRA Training Courses.

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation (Non-shooting course - approx. 3 hours)

Firearms Instruction Responsibility Safety Training (FIRST) ‍ Course Goal: To provide a next step, a deeper dive, from the New Shooter Gun Safety Seminar. This course will teach you the Basic Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude Necessary for Owning and Using a Pistol Safely. NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type of classes of four or fewer students. Students will learn the NRAs for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development.
