Curriculum Description

1). USCCA’s “Women’s Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals” is a welcoming and engaging training guide created by a woman for women who are seeking to begin, improve upon, or add to their firearms skills. The class is presented by a retired law enforcement professional with more than 40-years’ experience training hundreds of women police officers, as well as hundreds or everyday LADIES interested in providing effective self-defense and protection for their friends, family and of course… Themselves.

The class delves into three distinct modules (Women's Basic Pistol, Women's Intermediate Pistol, and Women's Defensive Pistol), this course is designed to reach students who are brand new to firearms and those who are ready to learn more about defensive shooting. Basics and fundamentals will be introduced, reviewed, and then built upon, while also exploring situational awareness, common types of handguns, ammunition types, malfunctions, firearms handling skills,defensive pistol fundamentals, and the use of deadly force. Whether you’ve never touched a firearm, you’re looking for the next steps in your training, or you’ve chosen to learn about the skills, tools, and mindset needed to use firearms for self-defense, you can be prepared to carry confidently every day with tips and techniques from experienced women in the world of firearms.

2.) Train Like SEALs, Special Forces, Marine Recon, Elite Law Enforcement & SWAT Teams! Forty-years of training police officers has taught me many valuable firearms tactics, street survival and high stress combat performance lessons.

I teach the NRA approved safe S.I.R.T. Laser Pistol training which is conducted on the premises. We use Laser Pistols that have functional features like the Glock 17,19, 22 & 34. We also utilize a variety of popular, concealable sub-compact pistols, such as the Glock 42/43, Ruger LC9, Ruger LCP, S&W Shield, Taurus PT111, and several others. It provides an auto-resetting, fully adjustable trigger, and a trigger take-up and a shot indicating laser. S.I.R.T. Laser Pistol training paired with another futuristic training system known as the LASER ACTIVATED SHOT REPORTING, L.A.S.R. system that records & analyzes every shot. The result, you’ll leave the class knowing an abundance of marksmanship skills and know when applied; they're effective and they really work! 3.) Extend your Firearms Training. Experience live fire training in a private or semi-private setting with your firearms instructor & coach at the Orange County Indoor Shooting Range in Brea. Curriculum Description Developing a personal & home protection plan is a key component of not only preparing for how we should (or might) react if confronted by a violent crime, but also how we might avoid violent crime in the first place.

Within this lesson, our experienced instructors explain that developing a protection plan is about much more than becoming proficient with a firearm or writing up a home invasion plan. It’s a plan that must encompass awareness, avoidance, and preparation, so that we’re less likely to find ourselves in a situation where we have no other option than to use our firearm, rather than more likely.

Introduction to Handgun Shooting and Safety

This class is taught by USCCA & NRA-certified instructors. By the end of this class, you will be able to shoot safely and correctly. It includes instruction in the classroom, as well as shooting time on the range. Students must bring valid, government-issued photo identification in order to shoot.

This is a hands-on instructional workshop. Join us with the firearm you want to clean, (handguns: revolvers & semi-automatics or shotguns). Learn to clean handguns or shotguns. If you want to learn to clean additional handguns an up-charge of $15 each will be charged.

We will supply everything you need to clean your gun and provide classroom and hands-on instruction: You can ask the instructor any questions during the workshop that may be specific to your firearms and needs. Latex gloves and eye protection will be provided. Cleaning supplies will be available for purchase if you need them. (Limit 6 students).

We are pleased to offer the USCCA's Women's Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals Course based on the textbook written by my fellow USCCA Training Counselor and Certified Instructor Beth Alcazar. I am certain you'll benefit from owning the 175 page USCCA textbook, ($35 Value).

The textbook is broken down into three informative courses: • Basic Pistol. • Intermediate Pistol. • Defensive Pistol.

The Women’s Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals class covers the Basic Pistol & Intermediate Pistol courses extensively and a large portion of the Defensive Pistol segment.

Plus, we teach safe inert Laser Pistol training to develop the fundamentals of defensive shooting & Live Fire Shooting Range training. Yes, we will make it to the live fire shooting range too!

The Defensive Pistol course is covered again with significant depth and then combined with the popular Home Defense Fundamentals course. Together the two courses make a powerfully dynamic home security & self-defense training experience, designed especially for women. The USCCA Women's Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals course is actually THREE classes in ONE:

1.) Basic & Intermediate Pistol: are the courses covered using the USCCA Women's Handgun & Self-Defense Fundamentals textbook. Students will be introduced to the following topics in detail: introduction to understanding firearms, the universal safety rules, how to manipulate a semi-automatic pistol (clear the chamber of cartridges / strip the magazine and confirm the gun is empty; loading / unloading magazines; charging the firearm, etc.), understanding a handgun’s action, understanding revolvers, understanding semi-automatics, handgun ammunition, malfunctions, intro to home defense shotguns & the AR-15 platform, defensive shooting versus marksmanship. Shooting fundamentals includes natural & neutral shooting platform, stance, proper grip, sight alignment / sight picture, trigger control, breath control, follow through, point / instinctive shooting.

2.) 5150 HEAT Students Train Like SEALs, Special Forces, Marine Recon, Elite Law Enforcement & SWAT Teams!

Forty-years of training police officers has taught me many valuable firearms tactics, street survival and high stress combat performance lessons.

The class sometimes goes a little longer because of student training with the 'SIRT' Laser Pistol training system, which by the way I am confident is the best method for teaching new shooters how to operate today's modern handguns and also for maintaining the marksmanship skills of old salty shooters. Along with the Laser Pistols we have 10 interactive training stations with multiple electronic & computerized targets intended to provide students with the best shooting experience, educational feedback, shot analysis and to develop speed and accuracy.

The Laser Pistols we use are not cheap video-game toys. The Laser Pistols we deploy are expensive replicas of real modern handguns with functional features, (resetting triggers & removable magazines) similar to the Glock 17, 19, 22 & 34. We also utilize a variety of popular, concealable sub-compact semi-auto & revolver pistols, such as the Glock 42/43, Ruger LC9, Ruger LCP, S&W Shield, S&W J-Frame 38, Taurus PT111 and AR-15s, (from NLT SIRT/STIC). In order to fill any performance or training gaps we have several 'BLOWBACK' laser handguns, which are used to demonstrate the recoil of actual live fire firearms while shooting inert laser shots. This is quality leading edge, high-tech firearms training.

Results: You’ll leave the class introduced to several self-defense and marksmanship skills and know when properly applied; they will provide effective protection training and they'll really work!

3.) Live Fire Shooting Range: extend your firearms training experience with an introduction to live fire training at the Orange County Indoor Shooting Range in Brea. Live fire gun range appointments are scheduled on a separate date, typically, weekday mornings

There's no additional cost for coaching/mentoring you during your first Live-Fire Range instruction. However, there is an additional 3rd party cost for range fees, firearm rental, targets, ammunition, etc, that will be paid to OC Indoor Shooting Range.

S.I.R.T. Laser Pistol training paired with another futuristic training system known asthe LASER ACTIVATED SHOT REPORTING, L.A.S.R. system that records & analyzes every shot. The result of this training method is you’ll leave the class knowing an abundance of fundamental marksmanship skills and know when these skills are applied; they're effective and they really work!

Experience live fire training in a private or semi-private setting with your firearms instructor & coach at the Orange County Indoor Shooting Range in Brea. You will be able to apply the newly acquired shooting fundamentals.

It consists of seven comprehensive training courses for Responsible Gun Owners in Orange County that find themselves in need of personal self-defense. How to Get a California Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) Effective January 1, 2015, the Handgun Safety Certificate program was replaced with the Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC) program. Under the FSC program, requirements that previously applied to handguns only; NOW APPLY to all firearms (handguns and long guns), unless exempt. A list of exemptions is listed below.

Once a Firearm Safety Certificate, FSC is obtained, it is valid for both handgun and long gun purchases/acquisitions for a period of five-years.

How much does the Firearm Safety Certificate cost? The fee for taking the FSC Test and obtaining an FSC is twenty-five dollars ($25). The $25 fee entitles you to take the test twice (from the same DOJ Certified Instructor) if necessary.

NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Training This NRA course is ONLY presented simultaneously with the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course. The NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Training Course teaches the basic knowledge & skills for owning and operating a firearm safely. This course provides shooters with the ability to learn the basics of firearm safety & shooting skills in a safe classroom setting. With state-of-the-art computer-based simulation. The Pistol Marksmanship Simulator provides individuals a learning opportunity where live fire is not a requirement.

Testing Requirements The State of California requires that all firearm purchasers have a California Firearm Safety Certificate. A Firearm Safety Certificate is acquired by taking and passing a written test, generally at participating firearms dealers and private firearms training facilities.

The test covers firearm safety and the basic firearms laws and requires a 75% score on a 30-question exam. To help individuals prepare for the test, a Firearm Safety Certificate Study Guide is available. A Spanish version is also available, as is a webinar for viewing or downloading: Webinar.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must present clear evidence of identity and age by presenting a California Driver’s License or California Department of Motor Vehicles Identification Card.

The firearm safety demonstration protocols and DOJ Certified Instructor standards have been established and implemented by DOJ. An explanation of the firearm safety demonstration can be found starting on page 12 of the Firearm Safety Certificate Study Guide.

How To Take the FSC Test If you attend our Basic Handgun Class, you will be able to take the FSC test in class before you leave. (Please note that the FSC test may be offered by a Third Party, NOT 5150 HEAT LLC – Firearms Training Academy.)

Firearm Safety Certificate Cost The cost of taking the CA FSC test is $25.00 in addition to the class. (Please note that the FSC test may be offered by a Third Party, NOT 5150 HEAT LLC – Firearms Training Academy.) Pro Tip: After taking our Basic Handgun Course, all of our students pass the test and usually receive a 90% grade on the test.

This Fee is a mandated fee set by the State of CA and is the same everywhere you would go to take the test.

Once you have passed the CA FSC test you receive the Certification Card that is good for 5 years to purchase a firearm in California.

When you are prepared to take the California Firearm Safety Certificate Test you may go to any Firearms Dealer and take the test at their location.

The NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home Course is an intermediate level shooting course that teaches defensive handgun use outside the home. Students should have already mastered safe gun handling and basic marksmanship skills prior to attending this class. USCCA Basic Handgun

This course is designed to educate the student on the safe handling and use of a firearm. The four universal safety rules for firearms (plus a few more) are heavily emphasized .

The USCCA BASIC FIREARMS SAFETY & FUNDAMENTALS COURSE is designed for both the beginner and experienced shooter. This course teaches the fundamentals of shooting. You will learn gun safety rules, the different pistol parts and how they operate, fundamentals of shooting (gun safety, stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, breath control, follow-through, recoil recovery, proper gun storage and dominant eye). Students will receive the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (e-textbook), numerous USCCA Student Handouts and after passing a written and practical test. At the successful completion of the course, students will be issued a nationally recognized training certificate that can be presented to the court as evidence of their accomplishment. This course will include everything EXCEPT Live-Fire and of course actual live-fire at a gun range.

The USCCA FIREARMS MARKSMANSHIP SIMULATOR TRAINING COURSE, Reinforces & Repeats the Universal Gun SAFETY RULES (plus, a few more), the firearm fundamentals such as, (correct stance, grip, sight alignment, sight picture, trigger control, breath control, follow-through, recoil recovery, proper gun storage and dominant eye). Students will use ULTRA SAFE, STATE-OF-THE-ART simulated Laser Pistols manufactured by Next Level Training SIRT - Laser Pistols combined with LASR/LaserX Electronic Target systems in our very comfortable stress-free, safe and sound classroom. COURSE III: Train Like SEALs, Special Forces, Marine Recon, Elite Law Enforcement & SWAT Teams! Forty years of training police officers have taught me many valuable firearms tactics, street survival, and high-stress combat performance lessons.

The class sometimes goes a little longer because of student questions and training with the 'SIRT' Laser Pistol training system, which by the way I am confident is the best method for teaching new shooters how to operate today's modern handguns and maintaining the marksmanship skills of old salty shooters. Along with the Laser Pistols we use electronic & computerized targets intended to provide students with the best shooting experience, educational feedback, and shot analysis. The Laser Pistols we use are not cheap videogame toys. They are expensive replicas of real handguns and have functional features like the Glock 17, 19, 22 & 34. We also utilize a variety of popular, concealable sub-compact semi-auto & revolver pistols, such as the Glock 42/43, Ruger LC9, Ruger LCP, S&W Shield, S&W J-Frame 38, and Taurus PT111. To fill in performance or training gaps, we have several 'BLOWBACK' laser handguns, which are used to demonstrate the recoil of actual live fire firearms. This is leading-edge high-tech training.

Results: You’ll leave the class introduced to several gun safety, marksmanship skills, and know when applied; they're effective protection and they really work!

COURSE IV: Extend your Firearms Training experience with live fire training at the FT3 Tactical Indoor Shooting Range. With more than 100 rental guns to choose from, novice students will have no problem discovering which handgun is the perfect caliber, size, right or left hand, and fit for their use and eventual purchase.

The Live Fire Gun Range is a third party and therefore a separate cost to students. Each student is required to pay their own range fee: $20; handgun rental: $0 (I am an FT3 Tactical Instructor so when students are training with me there’s ZERO COST for handgun rentals. But students must buy FT3 range ammo); targets: $2 to 3 each; and ammo Costs Vary,* Prices are approximate and subject to change. FT3 Live Fire Range has (PPE) safety equipment (ear/eye protection) at a nominal cost.

While it might seem unrealistic to translate what professional EMTs and paramedics are able to do in an emergency versus the things that nonprofessionals would be capable of, but in life threatening medical and traumatic emergencies, it all boils down to the same thing — sustaining the life of the patient until he or she can be delivered to the emergency room.
