What You'll Learn
A collaboration between QRF Training Systems and Edgar Bravo of Phalanx Tactical & Training Solutions. Edgar is a USCCA firearms instructor and gunsmith with four years of service in the United States Marine Corps. He served as a Field Radio Operator with an artillery battalion and later as a COMSEC Account Manager. These roles demanded precision, accountability, and disciplined risk management. During his service, he completed the Marine Corps Designated Marksman Course and served as a Marine Corps Weapons Coach. This 6-8 hour Intermediate Carbine / Pistol Course is designed for responsible civilian shooters who already understand the fundamentals and want to take their skills to the next level in a practical, defensive context.
This is not a beginner class and not a military or law-enforcement program. The focus is on realistic civilian defensive skills, efficient gun handling, and decision-making under stress—skills that matter for personal defense, home protection, and responsible firearms ownership.
Throughout the course, students will work with both carbine and pistol, learning how to safely and efficiently manage each platform individually and together. Emphasis is placed on smooth weapon manipulations, effective transitions, movement, use of cover, and solving common firearm problems without panic or wasted motion.
Skills Covered Include:
Efficient carbine and pistol manipulations
Emergency and tactical reloads
Clearing common and complex malfunctions
Carbine-to-pistol transitions
Shooting while moving
Use of cover and barricades
Target discrimination and decision-making
Performance under mild stress
Training is live-fire, drill-based, and coached throughout the day. Students receive individual feedback to improve efficiency, accuracy, and safety. The course is structured to challenge students without overwhelming them, making it ideal for shooters looking to progress beyond static range shooting.
Prerequisites:
Prior basic carbine and pistol training/experience
Safe firearm handling skills
Familiarity with loading, unloading, and basic operation of both platforms
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to notify by email at least 48 hours in advance of a class date to receive credit for future classes. No shows and classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be credited.
