What You'll Learn
The ACS (American College of Surgeons) STOP THE BLEED® Interactive Course guides you through the three methods of bleeding control using video demonstrations, interactive learning, and spontaneous quizzes. There is a 6 Student minimum on this class so bring some friends.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to notify by email at least 48 hours in advance of a class date to receive credit for future classes. No shows and classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be credited.
What We'll Teach
Medical Emergencies
If you and friends or family were preparing to embark on a hunting trip or a trip to the local gun range, what would your response be if I asked you, “What’s the most likely emergency situation you might have to deal with?” If you said, “A gunshot wound,” you might be surprised to find out that in the United States, you are 1,110 times more likely to find yourself dealing with a stroke, 500 times more likely to find yourself dealing with a cardiac arrest, and tens of thousands of times more likely to find yourself dealing with a diabetic emergency, than you are to find yourself dealing with a gunshot injury. While you should also know how to deal with a gunshot injury (which we addressed in Lesson Two), this lesson will deal with the medical emergencies mentioned above, and many others.
