This is a two-part class and is required by the State of Texas in order to apply for a License To Carry Handgun.

The first portion is in a classroom setting and is taught in four modules including the following topics: 1 - Laws That Relate to Weapons / Use of Force 2 - Safe Storage 3 - Non-Violent Dispute Resolution 4 - Handgun Use and Safety / Use of Restraint Holster

Portion 2 of the LTC class is conducted on a private range where each student will be required to perform a 50 round live-fire proficiency demonstration. This is designed to ensure the student can perform within a specified level of accuracy and safety.

If successful, the student will be issued a Certificate of Training which must be uploaded to the TX DPS website.

This first session of the Countering the Mass Shooter Threat class takes a detailed look at mass shooting statistics and examines the topics such as: Magazine Capacity Banning AR-15's Gun-Free zones, are they safe? Universal Background Checks

In part 2 of the USCCA Countering the Mass Shooter Threat, we will look at practical actions we can take to ensure our loved ones are as safe as possible. We will look into: Creating Emergency Operations Plans Special Considerations for Houses of Worships Run Hide or Fight Triage and treating the wounded

Range Qualifier for the USCCA Protector Academy Level 01

This class is for those that need beginner instruction for handgun use. We will work with dummy rounds for dry fire and then work into live fire at a pace that the student can feel comfortable and confident in their use of a handgun.

After looking at the basics of defensive firearms in class, we will then test the different types of firearms discussed in class with a live-fire session, allowing the student to gain hands-on experience with some popular calibers and styles of guns.

This is the qualifier for the USCCA's Protector Academy online training.

Private Class USCCA Basic Handgun Course

This class investigates the law surrounding use of force to help us understand what is involved in a legally justifiable self-defense incident.

This is the required handgun proficiency to complete online LTC course and includes 1 to 2 hours of range instruction and a 50 round safety and precision test. Must pass with a 70% score and safe handling of the handgun.

After reviewing the laws concerning a justified and legal use of force, we will use a virtual scenario simulator to walk thru situations and how to respond to them.
