What You'll Learn
The TN Armed Security Guard – New Applicant course provides the full state‑mandated training required to apply for the Tennessee Armed Security Guard License. This comprehensive program is designed for individuals entering the armed security profession and delivers the legal knowledge, firearm skills, and professional responsibilities expected of armed officers working in public and private environments. Students receive structured instruction in Tennessee security laws, use‑of‑force considerations, duty responsibilities, situational awareness, de‑escalation, communication, and incident response. The course includes extensive firearm safety training, marksmanship fundamentals, safe handling, loading and unloading, malfunction clearing, and the required Tennessee armed guard live‑fire qualification. This training meets all Tennessee state requirements for armed guard licensing and prepares students to carry a firearm responsibly and professionally while performing security duties.
Cancellation Policy: Refund and Cancellation Policy All class fees, training fees, and membership payments are non‑refundable. Payment secures your seat and instructor resources for the scheduled session. Students may request a one‑time reschedule by contacting us at least 24 hours prior to the start of their scheduled class. Rescheduled classes must be taken within one month of the original class date. Additional reschedule requests are not permitted. Failure to attend a class, or providing notice less than 24 hours before the scheduled start time, will be considered a no‑show. No‑shows and late notices forfeit all fees and must re‑register at full cost. Registration constitutes acceptance of this policy.
What We'll Teach
Self-Defense Firearms Basics
This lesson will introduce you to a wealth of information on different types of self-defense firearms including handguns, home defense shotguns, and the AR-15 platform, where Michael Martin provides easy to understand explanations of the common terms used so frequently. The goal of this lesson is to de-mystify what can sometimes feel like a topic reserved for experts.

Who This Class Is For: • Individuals entering the armed security profession • Security personnel transitioning from unarmed to armed roles • Companies onboarding new armed officers • Applicants needing state‑approved certification What Students Will Learn: • Tennessee armed security laws & licensing requirements • Use‑of‑force principles and legal responsibilities • Professional conduct, ethics, and duty expectations • Situational awareness & threat recognition • Communication, reporting, and incident documentation • Firearm safety rules & safe handling • Marksmanship fundamentals & defensive shooting basics • Loading, unloading, and malfunction procedures • Required Tennessee armed guard live‑fire qualification Equipment Requirements: • Students must bring their own handgun • Students must bring their own ammunition • Range bag and eye/ear protection • Holster strongly recommended (duty or OWB) Note: CFA does not provide rental firearms or ammunition for armed guard classes. Certification: Students receive the documentation required to submit their application to the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance for the Armed Security Guard License.
