My Biography
USCCA & NRA Certified Training Counselor Founder and lead instructor of the Swanson Training Group in Middleburg, just outside Jacksonville, FL. Trampas is a former Deputy Sheriff in which he served as a SWAT sniper, as well as patrol supervisor, narcotics and investigations experience for almost 12 years before taking early retirement. Trampas and his wife, Candace (also an NRA & USCCA Instructor) helped bring the national not for profit organization, The Well Armed Woman to the State of Florida in Feb of 2013. They now assist over 700 ladies statewide in over 25 chapters, including running day to day operations for two of their own chapters with TWAW Jacksonville North Chapter and Jacksonville South Chapter. In 2014, Trampas and Candace founded the Annual TWAW FL State Shoot which has grown to its 6th year as of Feb 2020, hosting over 200 attendees and instructors from all over the US. In addition to being a Training Counselor, Trampas holds USCCA Instructor credentials in Defensive Shooting Fundamentals, Basic Handgun, CCW and Home Defense, Family Firearm Fundamentals and Safety, Women's Handgun & Self Defense Fundamentals, Marksmanship Fundamentals Coach, Countering the Mass Shooter Threat, Range Safety Officer, Laser Train- Instructor and First Aid Fundamentals. Trampas holds NRA certifications as a Training Counselor, Basic Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun Instructor, Firearms Home Safety, Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA CCW, Personal Protection In The Home and Refuse To Be a Victim instructor. Trampas is also ALICE & FEMA Certified for Critical Mass Incident / Mass Shooter and conducts unique content courses for his company such as Urban Rifle and Defensive Shotgun. Aside from teaching, Trampas is the owner and managing editor of the Swanson Media Group which provides reviews, full length articles, videos and more for some of the biggest names in firearms publications in the world both in print, online and YouTube offering humble opinions and well researched point of view.
