What You'll Learn

Successfully completing this course meets the training requirements when applying for a Concealed Weapons Permit in the State of South Carolina.

The class includes Laws & Firearms Proficiency.

*Statutory and case law regarding deadly force *South Carolina laws governing firearms and concealed weapons permits *Proper firearms storage practices that deny access to children *Prohibited carry locations *Liability and responsibility issues relating to firearms *Proper interaction with Law Enforcement Officers *Firearms safety rules *Carrying “cocked & locked” *Firearm retention techniques overview *Handgun safety, manipulation, and operation *Concealment techniques and drawing from concealment *Range qualification *Written exam *All required forms and fingerprint cards are included with the class fee.

What We'll Teach

Gear and Gadgets

Walk into any gun shop, and the variety of gear and gadgets available can be a bit overwhelming. Gun vaults, holsters, lights, lasers—where do you start? In this lesson, Michael Martin will explain each of those pieces of gear, and he’ll discuss the options you should consider when you’re ready to go shopping.

Additional Notes from Your Instructor

Student will need the following items which ARE NOT available at the range: * Non-collapsible holster for the handgun they bring * STURDY belt that is adequate for holding the weight of a holster and fully loaded handgun * Valid government issued photo ID The student will also need the following (which are available for sale/rent) at the range if they do not have their own: * Concealable handgun * Minimum of 25 rounds of ammunition * Hearing protection (phone earbuds/headphones are not appropriate) * Eye protection
