What You'll Learn
The Bleeding Control (B-CON) course is part of the “Stop the Bleed” campaign and is designed for individuals who have little or no medical training, but may be called upon as immediate responders. Their role would be to provide initial trauma care and bleeding control to a victim of traumatic injury before the arrival of emergency medical services or in an austere environment.
Eligible Students:
Eligible students are any individuals who may be called upon to assist with trauma patients while waiting for first response or EMS to arrive. The course has been designed for students who have received little or no prior medical training. Examples of potential students include teachers, train station attendants, range instructors and range supervisors, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers, construction workers, warehouse workers, etc..
Successful Completion
Successful completion entails that the student has:
Attended the entire course
Adhered to course content and demonstrated all practical skills as required within the course.
BCon Course Schedule:
BCon Lecture (with real world examples)
Tourniquet Single Skill Station
Wound Packing Single Skill Station
NPA Single Station
Chest Seal Skill Station
Average course time is 3-4 hours.
Completion
Students will be presented with a Stop the Bleed certificate, certifying them for two years.
Students will be presented with a North American Rescue (NAR) Individual First Aid Kit (MFAK).
