DPSST PRIVATE SECURITY UNARMED PROFESSIONAL COURSE

“Private security professional” means an individual who performs, as the individual’s primary responsibility, private security services for consideration, regardless of whether the individual, while performing the private security services, is armed or unarmed or wears a uniform or plain clothes, and regardless of whether the individual is employed part-time or full-time to perform private security services. (ORS 181A.840)

This Course is the official curriculum required to apply for an Oregon Department of Safety Standards & Training (DPSST) Unarmed Security Professional License. This 14 hour Course is conducted over 2 days, includes a Written Exam and free Fingerprinting, required for application for licensing. Certification is good for 2 years upon application acceptance.

Upon completion of the Oregon DPSST Unarmed Security Certification course, each student will be provided all required paperwork to be submitted to Oregon DPSST’s Private Security Division. Each student must submit their application packet within 180 days of the completion of the course.

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Student must be minimum age of 18.
2. Student must have a High Diploma/GED and/or a 2/4 year degree from an University/College.
3. Student must be in good Moral Fitness (pass a Criminal Background Check).

Notes

1. The Fingerprint Fee is included in the Course Price. All students must be fingerprinted at the end of the course.

5. Refunds are only provided to students who cancel registration minimally 48 hours before the start of class. No exceptions. There are no rescheduling fees.
6. If a Licensed Security Entity (Security Company) has registered a minimum of 4 students to attend the Course, a $50 rebate will be refunded to the Entity for each attending Student (minimum $200 discount), but not before full purchase. Please call or email for additional information.
7. The course is taught in English and Students are required to speak, read and write in English. This is a State official requirement. Non English speaking Students are ineligible.
