What You'll Learn

About the Course This course is designed to bridge the gap between owning a firearm and the practical application of self-defense law. Navigating the legalities of using force is one of the most significant responsibilities an armed citizen faces, as the justice system is not always "just". This seminar provides a clear, concise roadmap to help you understand when you can legally engage a threat and how to protect yourself from legal, financial, and moral ruin in the aftermath of a shooting.

What You Will Learn This classroom-based session focuses on providing the legal literacy required for responsible carry.

Key curriculum points include:

The Four Pillars of Justifiable Deadly Force: You will learn how to articulate the four essential factors—immediacy, innocence, no lesser force, and no means of escape—that must be present to justify lethal action.

Force vs. Deadly Force: Understand the legal distinction between using physical force to stop a threat and the use of deadly force, which is likely to cause death or grave bodily harm.

Disparity of Force: Learn how factors like age, size, strength, and force of numbers can influence the legal reasonableness of your defense.

Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground: We will break down these critical legal principles and explain how duty to retreat laws vary across different jurisdictions.

The Self-Defense Decision Tree: Put your knowledge to the test using a structured mental model to evaluate real-world "what-if" scenarios.

Post-Incident Procedures: Learn exactly what to do and say when the police arrive to ensure you protect your Fifth Amendment rights while cooperating with first responders.

Training Components To ensure the material is actionable and memorable, the course includes:

Scenario-Based Discussions: Interactive analysis of real-life encounters to sharpen your defensive instincts.

Physiology of Stress: Insights into how adrenaline and high-stress affect your memory and physical ability to respond.

Legal Aftermath Planning: Guidance on preparing a plan for the financial and legal scrutiny that follows any defensive incident.

Note: This is a non-live-fire, classroom-based seminar. While it provides essential legal knowledge, students are encouraged to pursue additional live-fire training to maintain mechanical proficiency.

Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.

What We'll Teach

Legal Use of Force

In this lesson, Michael Martin will cover important legal topics, including the laws governing the legal use of force inside and outside the home. Within this lesson, you’ll get a chance to test what you’ve learned, using several real world scenarios with you as the actor.
