What You'll Learn
About the Course While Oklahoma is a permitless carry state, the legal and moral responsibility of being an armed citizen remains a high-stakes endeavor. This course is specifically designed to meet the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET) requirements for the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act (SDA) license. Obtaining this license is vital for citizens seeking reciprocity in the 38 states that honor the Oklahoma permit and for those who desire a deeper education in the practical application of self-defense law. You will learn how to develop a professional-grade plan to avoid violent events, react effectively during an encounter, and manage the legal aftermath of a self-defense incident.
What You Will Learn This 8-hour course provides a structured playbook for individuals to become their own first line of defense.
Key training points include:
Oklahoma Self-Defense Law: A deep dive into the SDA requirements, the criminal provisions of Oklahoma law relating to firearms, and the legalities of the Castle Doctrine.
The Legal Use of Force: Understanding the "Reasonable Person" standard and the four pillars of justifiable deadly force: immediacy, innocence, no lesser force, and no safe means of escape.
Conflict Avoidance & Situational Awareness: Learning to identify potential threats using the Cooper Color Code and the tactical importance of de-escalation.
Handgun & Ammunition Fundamentals: Essential knowledge of handgun nomenclature, the cycle of operation, and the dynamics of ammunition.
The Aftermath of an Incident: How to safely interact with law enforcement and protect your rights after a self-defense encounter.
Training Components To ensure you are more informed and a better protector of your family, the class includes:
Safety Inspection: A mandatory safety evaluation of the firearm you intend to use for training.
Familiarization Course: Guided instruction on safe handling, storage, and proper shooting methods.
Live-Fire Qualification: A supervised range assessment to validate your shooting proficiency and competency with an SDA-authorized firearm.
Reciprocity Review: Practical guidance on using the USCCA Reciprocity Map to understand your rights when traveling across state lines.
Note: Successful completion of this course fulfills the training requirement to apply for an Oklahoma Concealed Carry License (SDA). Please note that license application, fingerprinting, and processing fees to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) are separate from the course tuition.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
