What You'll Learn
About the Course True protection is a multi-layered approach that begins long before a threat is ever present. This seminar is designed to help you avoid violent events by moving beyond basic safety and into a comprehensive defensive mindset. You will learn how to develop a professional-grade plan to fortify your home, react effectively during an encounter, and manage the moral and financial aftermath of a self-defense incident.
What You Will Learn This course provides a structured playbook for individuals and families to become their own first line of defense.
Key training points include:
Conflict Avoidance: Learn how to use distance, eye contact, and body posture to de-escalate or prevent an encounter.
Situational Awareness: A deep dive into the Cooper Color Code (Conditions White through Red) to ensure you are never caught unaware.
Home Security & Fortification: Techniques for conducting a physical security evaluation of your property, including assessments of windows, doors, lighting, and concealment-providing landscaping.
The Safe Room Strategy: How to designate and stage a "safe room" equipped with emergency communication and medical trauma kits.
Use-of-Force Options: Understanding the continuum of defense, from voice commands and non-lethal tools to the legal justification for deadly force.
The "What-If" Game: Interactive discussions on real-world scenarios, such as responding to shattering glass at night or encountering a stranger in a dark parking lot.
Training Components To ensure the material is actionable and relevant to your daily life, the class includes:
Tabletop Planning: Guidance on creating a home-safety plan tailored to your specific family makeup and residence.
Checklist Review: Practical tools to help you harden your defense plan through printable security checklists.
Non-Live-Fire: This is a classroom-based seminar focusing on mental preparation and strategy; no firearms are required for attendance.
Note: This course is a standalone module of the USCCA curriculum and serves as an excellent foundation for those seeking a concealed carry permit or more advanced tactical training.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
What We'll Teach
Developing a Personal Plan & Home Protection Plan
Developing a personal & home protection plan is a key component of not only preparing for how we should (or might) react if confronted by a violent crime, but also how we might avoid violent crime in the first place. Within this lesson, Michael Martin explains that developing a protection plan is about much more than becoming proficient with a firearm or writing up a home invasion plan. It’s a plan that must encompass awareness, avoidance, and preparation, so that we’re less likely to find ourselves in a situation where we have no other option than to use our firearm, rather than more likely.
