What You'll Learn

The USCCA Defensive Shotgun Fundamentals course is designed to teach the essential skills needed to confidently and effectively use a shotgun for personal and home defense. This class focuses on building strong fundamentals while emphasizing safe handling, efficient operation, and keeping the shotgun loaded and ready during defensive use.

Students will learn proper stance, mounting, and recoil management, along with practical loading and reloading techniques that keep the shotgun running under stress. The course also covers ammunition management, malfunction clearance, and defensive considerations specific to shotguns. Live-fire drills reinforce these skills in realistic defensive scenarios.

This class is ideal for both new defensive shotgun owners and experienced shooters looking to refine their fundamentals and improve efficiency.

What you’ll learn:

Safe and effective defensive shotgun handling

Proper stance, mount, and recoil control

Loading and reloading techniques to keep the shotgun operational

Ammunition management and selection

Recognizing and clearing common shotgun malfunctions

Practical application for home and personal defense
