What You'll Learn
Armed Civilian Active Shooter Response Training
When Lives Are on the Line, Every Decision Matters.
You carry a firearm to protect yourself and those you love. But what happens when violence erupts in a public place, and you're suddenly faced with decisions you never imagined having to make?
Do you escape or stay? How do you protect your family or others around you? What if you can't safely leave? And how do you determine whether drawing your firearm is necessary, justified, or even the safest option?
Carrying a firearm gives you another option. Knowing when—and when not—to use it is just as important as knowing how.
Our In The Line Of Fire: Defend & Protect course is designed for responsible armed citizens who want to better understand the challenges of responding to an active shooter or other violent emergency.
This course goes beyond traditional target shooting, combining defensive decision-making, firearm safety, practical exercises, and realistic scenarios to explore the responsibilities of being armed when innocent lives are in danger.
What You'll Learn
RECOGNIZE THE THREAT — Understand What's Happening
Violent emergencies are often chaotic and confusing. Learn to recognize potential threats, maintain situational awareness, identify possible escape routes, and avoid making dangerous assumptions when information is incomplete.
COVER & CONCEALMENT — Understand Your Environment
Not everything that hides you will protect you. Explore the differences between cover and concealment, evaluate safer locations, and understand how your surroundings can affect your decisions during an emergency.
MOVEMENT & SURVIVAL — Make Decisions Under Pressure
Learn to prioritize escaping danger, helping others reach safety when feasible, and making responsible decisions when circumstances change rapidly. Scenario-based exercises explore movement to safety, communication, and the challenges of responding under stress.
ARMED DEFENSE — Understanding Your Responsibilities
Discuss the legal, ethical, and safety considerations surrounding defensive firearm use, including identifying an immediate threat, understanding the risks to bystanders, and recognizing situations where using a firearm could create additional danger.
WHEN HELP ARRIVES — Avoid Being Mistaken for the Threat
An armed citizen responding to a violent emergency faces a unique challenge: arriving law enforcement may not know who the attacker is. Learn important considerations for communicating with emergency responders, following commands, and avoiding actions that could lead to a tragic misunderstanding.
Realistic Training. Real Decisions.
This isn't simply another day at the shooting range.
Our training uses interactive instruction, practical exercises, and scenario-based decision-making to explore the challenges armed citizens may encounter during a violent emergency.
You'll examine situations where escaping is the best decision, where protecting others requires restraint, and where an immediate threat may leave few safe options.
The goal isn't to teach you to chase a threat. It's to help you understand how to protect lives while avoiding unnecessary risks.

Being Armed Is a Responsibility. Being Prepared Takes Training.
During an active shooter incident, there are no guarantees and rarely any easy decisions.
Having a firearm does not make you a law enforcement officer, and it does not mean confronting an attacker is always the right choice. Knowing how to evaluate danger, protect yourself and others, and understand the consequences of your decisions is essential.
In The Line Of Fire: Defend & Protect
Recognize the threat. Protect innocent lives. Make every decision count.

What We'll Teach
Countering the Threat
The solutions outlined in Part Two are based upon the clear and convincing evidence uncovered in Part One. The solutions are comprehensive—in other words, they are meant to deter potential shooters before they strike; they are meant to end attacks early and minimize the number of victims when they strike; and they are meant to save the lives of victims after the attack is over. Topics explored in Part Two include: - Knowing the signs. - Creating an emergency operations plan for your school, house of worship or business. - Special security considerations for schools. - Special security considerations for houses of worship. - Using the Run, Hide, Fight Methodology. - When fighting back means using a firearm. - Triage and treat the wounded. - The criteria for gun free zones. - Where do we go from here? Whether you accept all of Martin’s recommendations or not, you will find something of value in Part Two, even if it’s learning how to properly develop an Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) for your house of worship, school or business; or if it’s learning how to make a field expedient tourniquet or chest seal in order to protect the life of a critically injured victim if you ever find yourself at the scene of a mass shooting.
