What You'll Learn
To obtain maximum benefit from this class, your rifle should be fitted with a 2-point sling and a red-dot sight, or other optic. This class focuses on learning the skills needed to defend yourself and your loved ones in your home with your AR-15 rifle. It is taught within 10 - 21 feet distances, representative of many homes.
This is a live-fire class that is taught almost entirely on the range. It uses kinestnetic alignment, and the principle of balancing speed and precision, to achieve defensive accuracy, with maximum efficiency. We work on the use of the mechanical safety, points of contact, mechanical offset, and balancing speed and precision to obtain optimal defensive accuracy. The class progresses through multiple drills that include emergency reloading and addressing multiple targets. At the end of the class, you will be comfortable and competent with your AR-15 as a home-defense firearm and able to work with it in the context of a critical dynamic incident.
The USCCA AR-15 Defensive Shooting Fundamentals certificate will be issued to successful participants.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
What We'll Teach
AR-15 Fundamentals
This classroom and live-fire AR-15 Fundamentals course is designed to introduce responsible gun owners to the safe handling, proper maintenance, and effective use of AR-15-style rifles in the context of civilian home defense and defense.
Classroom topics include:
- Overview of basic AR-15 nomenclature and function
- Cleaning and maintenance
- Accessorizing the AR-15
Live-range topics include:
- How to safely and effectively operate an AR-15
- How to confirm zero
- How to improve skills and precision with an AR-15
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
This class also requires a cash range fee of $50, paid directly to the range on the day of class. Please bring this with you. The range is is outdoors with little shelter. Please bring everything you need for the day with you, including food, hydration and a seat.
