Course Overview: The ASP Defender for Everyday Personal Safety
This course provides practical, hands-on training for the ASP Defender, a discreet and reliable pepper spray designed for everyday carry. Moving beyond basic aerosol cans, we focus on the specific mechanical skills and decision-making needed to use this tool effectively in real-world personal defense situations.
What You Will Learn:
Tool Mechanics: How to quickly and reliably operate the Defender’s unique safety toggle and thumb-press actuator.
Effective Deployment: Mastering the "burst and move" technique—targeting the T-zone while creating distance from a potential threat.
Personal Safety Scenarios: Recognizing when to deploy the Defender, using verbal commands to de-escalate, and escaping safely after use.
Maintenance & Logic: How to change inserts, check expiration dates, and ensure your device is always ready for a flash of sight deployment.
This class is designed for anyone seeking a solid foundation in personal protection using a high-quality, low-profile safety tool.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 48 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 48 hours before the class will not be refunded.
What We'll Teach
ASP Defender
This class will introduce you to the Defender - a low-profile, highly effective pepper spray device from Armament Systems & Procedures, Inc. (ASP). You will learn what makes this device so effective, as well as what you need to consider when carrying it. Plus, you will get hands-on training with the Defender which will increase your confidence and competence in carrying this device as a means of self-protection.
Additional Notes from Your Instructor
All students will be given an ASP Sport Defender D1 with an inert and a heat insert. If you are a MA resident it's important to make sure you're not a prohibited person for pepper spray.
