What You'll Learn
Certificates from both USCCA and American College of Surgeons. There is a lot of hands-on in this class; Tourniquets (TQ), Chest Seals, and Wound Packing.
This is NOT your standard First-Aid Class.
If you can make a hole in someone, you need to be able to plug/patch a hole in someone ... who could be YOU or YOUR family member.
LOTS OF HANDS-ON: TQs are applied on self and each other; when there is no "blood" squirting and when there is (using water). Applying TQ in lowlight on extremities (arms & legs).
Chest Seals are applied to a realistic wound that has simulated blood oozing out of it. How to prepare to apply and applying an actual chest seal.
Wound Packing is done with real clotting gauze using simulated blood which can clot.
You will feel what it is like and see the results of your application of the skills you are learning.
We also cover what to consider when building your own Trauma or Trauma/First-Aid Kit (Bag).
There are a lot of items handed out that are part of the class.
Available for purchase: USCCA Emergency First Aid Fundamentals Books and we plan to have personal trauma kits with quality gear.
On a nice day we may conduct the wound packing outdoors. All fake blood used washes out of your clothing if any happens to get on them.
These classes are small, up to eight, and may only be held once or twice per year. If you see this class is scheduled, I encourage you to take advantage.
Our Chief Instructor is Ron Wenzel (see Notes area for bio) and assisted by Will & Vickie.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least one-week in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Cancellations of less than one-week, but more than 60 hours will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations of less than 60 hours before the class will not be refunded.
What We'll Teach
Emergency First Aid Fundamentals
U.S. Concealed Carry Association Training is the nation’s leading firearms training and education resource, but that isn’t all we offer. We focus on learning that makes you a more responsible American and a protector of your family in any scenario. That’s why we created Emergency First Aid Fundamentals.
If you’re ready to become your family’s first responder in an emergency situation, like a car accident, serious fall, gunshot wound, or other medical emergencies, this training cannot be missed.
During this training, you’ll do more than simply sit in a classroom learning about these topics. Your USCCA instructor will work you through a dozen real-world scenarios using simulated patients and the actual products (or field expedients) that you’ll need to understand if you hope to save a life.
Lessons include:
- Patient assessment
- Traumatic emergencies
- Medical emergencies
- Building your own first-aid kit
